I hope they took Baby Dusty Roads to Paris for the weekend. How romantic.

"It should be at No.2 ... just behind Ocean Rain," he said. "Rolling Stone only ever interviewed me once, so they don't really know how good we are."

What a ridiculous thing to say.

As if interviewing Mac more than once will miraculously make Roliing Stone get the bunnymen musically.

What Ian has always failed to realise is that he can be a rude arrogant prick to journalists and word gets around...

Though on a good day when he can be bothered getting out of bed and has only had a couple of drinks he can be the one of the funniest and memorable people to interview.
Those moments are rare however and he is sounding like a bitter old twat these days.

Ha. I checked out those Ritch Kids on myspace out of curiosity - utter French shite music bollocks. Still, that squeaky blonde singer might be interesting with a name like Laytitia. An intriguing name. Mon dieu!

On Mac's Chris Martin name checks. It's something like five to seven years that has been going on now isn't it? It has got unbearable. I can't even read any interviews with him anymore.

Chris Martin was (barely) on Slidling, and that's it, right? So that would make it seven years ago. Ian was on one of their albums (not a fan, so I don't know the particulars) but not credited (I think).

Chris Martin knew how to take the relationship (regardless of how tenuous) and exploit it to get the most press out of it. Now he's moved on to the next shiny penny that the press will quiz him about.

Ian, on the other hand, let a fabulous opportunity slip away, not surprisingly. He really messed up by leaking the info that EATB was going to support Coldplay on some big tour before Martin wanted the info out there. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? After that, the relationship soured as Martin moved along.

So Ian is left with insulting Martin/Coldplay (and Bono) when goaded on by the press, while Martin (and Bono) is counting his millions in his bank account.

Sounds about right. If I recall, I think Mac did something or other on A Rush of Blood to the Head back in 2002 (maybe made suggestions in production on a couple of tracks rather than perform with them) that then led Martin and Jonny Buckland to appear on Slideling (Martin and Buckland on Sliding and Martin on the old joanna on Arthur). Coldplay did a cover of Lips Like Sugar live in 2002 (appeared they played it again in Liverpool in 2008). But that's where it all ended. I thought The Fountrain was supposed to feature Martin but as I never bought it I have no idea as to what was in the sleeve notes. A load of one-sided PR baloney perhaps?

Kinda sad that the Bunnymen have released 5 albums since getting back together and every interview to this day seems to always go back to something the band released over 20 years ago. Maybe Ian will eventually realize after talking about why OR or HUH are so great for the thousandth time why those albums are remembered and cherished and why the new stuff is forgotten the day after they're released (outside of the hardcore fan base, ie, everyone on here).

I just googled "Bunnymen Fountain Martin" and pages of websites come up that claim that Chris Martin contributed to the title track (and even his appearance couldn't save the album....). But I remember that in an interview, when it was released, Ian specifically told the reporter that Martin was not on the album at all. So what happened between the original press release (that said that Martin would be on the album) to the finished product? Also, didn't they go back into the studio and re-record at least the vocals for The Fountain (title track), right before it was released? Perhaps Martin was on an earlier version.

I was surprised that Gwynneth Paltrow would allow Martin to be "buddies" with Ian, given Ian's bad habits and propensity towards fucking up.

Before I knew better I'd have probably agreed with you and added that all French bands were a bunch of pretentious garlic eating wankers and indeed that all Europeans were a pale imitation of English and American bands- but whilst I have no doubt the Rich Kids come under that category, go to a Francois and the Atlas Mountains gig and prepare to be astounded -or Uncle Jellyfish, though I think they might be from Belgium.
Francois's English girlfriend is a pretty cool singer as well.

As for Mac criticising Coldplay's decline, the words pot, kettle and black come to mind, and at least Bono has most of his vocal range left. But everything he said about the Bunnymen being a superior band was true before The Fountain. After that ultimate fall from grace, he just can't get away with such a ridiculous statement. He should have ditched the album and exploited the bands great history sooner-it could be a triumph if he can keep his voice together. I thought I was a bit annoyed about the band's decline, but now that the penny seems to have dropped just how bad the bands fall from grace is, the reaction from the fans on this forum is even more vicious. Add the sheer contempt that the utterly fake BOF forum has for real fans and I can understand the anger.

I have no idea where Uncle Jellyfish come from (I haven't actually heard any of their stuff anyway). Hearing Francois and the Atlas Mountains, not really my cup of tea. I don't mind (and I stress mind rather than like) Nouvelle Vague for example. Air is another one. However, there is always an exception to the few good bands. Generally, I find French bands and French music awful. Having lived and socialised with our snail munching cousins for a while a few years back, and despite me having an avatar of Charles de Gaulle, I find them an odd bunch of people and some are downright annoying. Still, I'm always partial for a blonde chick even if French. That Laytitia badly reminds me of a couple of girls I used to know a few years back.

I was in France last week - Paris and then Dijon

Their music may be shite at times but they know how to live ... Their train system is 1 million times better than ours and when they build something they build it with a bit of style ..

my main gripe is that some one should tell the grannies it is time to stop dressing up .

Oh then I went to Lisbon and fuck me that city is imperssive

(this was all with work)

Once again, there is nothing on the web that shows Francois greatness or any of the other bands/performers I have raved about. Only a live show or my films prove my point (spectacularly) because my camera is actually magic and alters the laws of chance to bring out the greatest performance in history from any band it is pointed at. Perhaps I should bring it to the Bunnymen's Heaven Up Here shows. This is particularly noticeable when comparing the soundtrack on my film to Uncle Jellyfish's studio album-the live audio tracks on my film are like a performance from a completely different and great band, but their studio record does nothing for me. I never realised just how much uninspired production can ruin material even from a great band. Only tonywojo has listened to my advice and actually gone to at least one of the live shows (Rachael Dadd) and seen that I am not exaggerating the amazing power of these new performers. I am used to scepticism, I know what I am saying is almost as unlikely as my claims of building a superluminal signalling device, but I was right about that as well. In fact I seem to have been right about everything.

For sure their living style, train service etc is far superior to ours, and from my experience, they know it and are glad to tell you as often as possible. I like parts of France as well. Paris I don't like, I find it too claustrophobic and too seedy in parts. Montmartre and the Marais district are okay and the only bits I haven't minded going to when there. Elsewhere in Europe, Berlin is probably the most impressive city that I have been to. I haven't been to Lisbon.

And yes, Dr Evil bring your magic camera to the Bunnymen shows.

I want to bring the magic camera, but the bastards on the BOF have banned me (from the forum, not the live shows) after my "Fountain of Vomit" piss-take, so does anyone have the physical address of the Bunnymen's management, because I'd like permission to film in full HD.

It used to be Porcupine Management, 33-45 Parr Street, Liverpool.
