I have never seen that video before - I probably did when the Chart Show was on, but it escapes my mind, even though Lowdown has emerged as my favourite Electrafixion song over the years. It would only be Mac who'd get away with dressing up like Judy Garland/Dorothy. Anyone else, and you'd think WTF is that gay shit? Great stuff though. I wish I'd seen them live back then.

Me too. They played a warm-up gig about 12 miles from where we live in a hotel in Betws-y-Coed. I didn't find out until a couple of weeks later and never quite believed the story until I saw it a couple of years ago on a concert log. Gutted.

I was going to various gigs back then and saw a band called Electrafixion advertised as playing nearby. Didn't have a clue who they were and was going to go, but cancelled my plans at the last minute. Back around that time, I was also going to see an unknown band called Oasis and again decided not to go at the last minute. That one I don't regret.

That was the one. Now I feel worse. You could have said the performance stank at the very least.

I was there too Billy. The performance stank. Mac came out and said "Good evening. I'm Ian McCulloch and this is Electrafixion. They play so fine" and that was the highlight. Be thankful you missed it.

So I could have met the legendary Black Francis as well? That's just a cross I'll have to bear. :frown:

Interesting ticket Dave, "Ian McCulloch & Electrafixion".

Have you ever heard that hymn about Gladly the Cross-eyed Bear?

I can't say it's been a chart-topper in these parts.

Blimey what a difference 15 or so years has made, Mac looks positively juvenille in that video compared to his current living on the streets look.

He was about 36 years old then, wasn't he? A year younger than I am now. Gawd, I hope I don't put on the same weight on when I get into my mid-40s.

I go to the gym three times a week but it's a bit like running to stand still these days!
