1001 Albums to Listen to before you die...

Postby DivaDiana77 » Tue Mar 23, 2010 3:37 am

Has 3 by the Bunnymen.

Rolling Stone picked HUH as #498 on the 500 greatest albums of all time, but the British critics picked Crocodile, Porcupine and Ocean Rain. Great stuff on here.

I long for the pork of Porcupine. (A slide show dedicated mostly to Will right here.... http://www.examiner.com/rock-music-in-l ... -here-tour)

Shamefully I have only heard 168 of those albums all the way through. Mind you there is some absolute crap in there that I wouldn't give cupboard space to!

I admire you for checking. I hadn't thought to do that. That's a few weeks of your life.

Should we set up a rating system for each one on the list?

why not? I mean a more challenging book to write would be ten records you ought to hear sometime before next wednesday. Challenging because they would have to fill a mighty tome with views and opinions on ten records instead of just culling what everybody thinks who writes for or reads Q/Mojo/(the other one whose name escapes me )magazines. I think I feel a new thread coming on - though it has the whiff (Brian the dog: "sorry did you just say w-hiff") of that pretend bloke on the other forum who keeps inventing polls.

Plus - the 'before you die' request is a bit redundant isn't it? Not to say potentially worrying. So you're there on yur deathbed, or maybe the pavement having just been hit by a bus and you feel its time to make 'the speech', or at least confess, and all you can think of is that you skipped 552 and 634 because, well the album sleeves were shitty and thats always put you off a bit, oh and tell the wife and kids that i love them, and 996 i only played side two.

I have a couple problems with this list myself:

1. I ain't listening to a full fucking album of Louis Fucking Prima songs
2. The list doesn't have anything released since 2008.

"1001"

Postby Ag » Wed Mar 24, 2010 11:28 am

It wouldn't roll off the toungue so well, but a more appropriate title might have been
200 albums you must listen to before you die and 801 we included for the hell of it
All the same, this book piqued my curiosity in the band, so I won't further knock on it.

They actually did update the list somewhere, I just liked that there were 3 Bunnymen albums. The update is just things that were dropped and added.
I know you are looking for BRMC.
