I know I'll be at the Wiltern. Maybe the Grove too. _________________ Sho 'nuff |

Psych Furs are great live... but I'm surprised that they are playing th Blockley - a really small venue in Philly. Usually its a good thing, but its just odd... then again a few years back they played at the Hard Rock Cafe... which in Philly is just a restaurant, there isn't really a stage setup or anything... so it was really weird. It was a good show, just a weird venue. LOL _________________ not just another drop in the ocean |

that's odd ... you'd think they'd play a bigger place in Philly. maybe that was the only place they could get for that date? I'm wondering the opposite about the Wiltern in L.A. A big old converted movie theater. Beautifully restored, but maybe too large? _________________ Sho 'nuff |

Lee's Palace in Toronto is also really small. |

Yes they are. I've said this many times but their House of Blues live DVD that came out a few years ago is also very good. Butler is very energetic on stage.
They are playing on my birthday in Chicago on June 11. It's too bad I can't go since I've just started a new job and I don't have that much time off to take. _________________ VilliersTerrace.com...It seems rather like a pub that you'd find Ian McCulloch in, lots of loud voices, cheer, and some ramblings funny enough to rival Comedy Central. They are great live - but their fan base is aging and getting a sitter can be tough. They aren't replacing old fans with new ones like, say, Billy Idol. I know, Billy Idol, right?

They seem to be strictly an oldies circuit act with no new material to speak of and you never really hear about them being cited as an influence by anyone that I know of which usually garners new fans.
I really dug them back in the day and got to meet Richard Butler once when he was in Love Spit Love in the 90's. I think I saw them 2 times in the 80's and then the Love Spit Love show and then again when they played with the Bunnymen on the Flowers tour and I never went away disappointed. _________________ VilliersTerrace.com...It seems rather like a pub that you'd find Ian McCulloch in, lots of loud voices, cheer, and some ramblings funny enough to rival Comedy Central. The Roxy might be a better place for them or the El Rey. Not sure how many seats are at the Wiltern but I intend to go there eventually--hopefully for Ramona Falls and the National. A seat count might be available at the Live Nation website or at the Wiltern website.
I prob won't go. I was a fan back in the day, but many bands I'm OK letting go of. They were cool--but does that guy have any voice left? It was already really smoky sounding in 1982. _________________ "it gives me thrills to wind you up." Kate Nash, Foundations.

Like I said Butler sounded good on that House of Blues DVD from 2001 and when I saw them on that tour. Of course that was now 9 years ago. _________________ VilliersTerrace.com...It seems rather like a pub that you'd find Ian McCulloch in, lots of loud voices, cheer, and some ramblings funny enough to rival Comedy Central. I'll poke around on Youtube and see if I can find something recent. _________________ "it gives me thrills to wind you up." Kate Nash, Foundations. |
