We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

It really is a great album. Psychocandy was always lauded as the classic Mary Chain album but, for me, Darklands is superior. Automatic is a great car CD as well. Did anyone buy the recent "Power of Negative Thinking" box? haven't got around to that one yet.

It was an interesting move at the time to turn around and turn off the distortion for the second record. It would have been easier to put out Psychocandy II.

Honey's Dead is another classic.

I love Darklands and Stoned and Dethroned. It's like so this is what they would sound like without all the fuzz. Beautiful, fragile stuff.

Sound of Speed is great and the Power of Negative Thinking box set is my favorite B-sides collection so far. Far better than the Cure's.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I gave you all I had. I gave you good and bad. I gave but you just threw it back.

Try and listen to the John Peel session they did before Darklands. The reverb drenched acoustic Deep One Perfect Morning is probably their finest three minutes.

Sorry I think it was a Janice Long session......

I haven't listened to Power as much as Barbed Wire Kisses, mostly cuz I have BWK on a tape in my car. But I do like that early demo Up to High ... and Alphabet City.

Wonder if JAMC have broken up again or just gone dormant? All's seemingly quiet from their camp.

Will Reid seems pretty fried anytime I've seen them live (in vids) or in interviews. Jim seems to have lost patience. Jim also sounds like in interviews he is pretty content being a dad.

That was in their earlier incarnation, right? Jim's on the wagon now, and William remarried recently. They seemed fine in their post-reunion interviews, tho some of William's ramblings on his myspace page seem to have been written after he'd had a few too many tecates. He occasionally posts on the april skies board, but hasn't been on there in eons. And because the band is in dormant mode, there's a lot of treading water-like discussions on april skies (sound familiar? )

They're even worse than the Bunnymen about getting the word out on the Web. That "update coming soon" has been on their official website for at least a year.

So, who knows what they're up to these days.

It is strange that they credit themselves now individually for songs in JAMC, yet when they make music without one another it is rarely memorable.

So here is how I come up with my extreme guesses about what is going on with the two:

Coachella:
Jim complains to the audience the Will refuses to sing his own song. Appears frustrated with him. Will just hides by his amp.

Coachella, Letterman:
Will looks like hell. I mean, like he has been living on LSD and rotisserie chicken for six months in a black walled windowless room.

myspace:
Will's releases would put early GBV and Folk Implosion to shame they sound so poor. Really sounded like a 16 yr old with a cassette recorder or garageband doing a first take of some noise and then putting it on the web.

Interview:
Jim states very seriously that he is grateful of having gotten this much out of a music career for how little he know about music. Says in the end he can't believe it didn't end after Psychocandy.

Freeheat:
Everyone looked bored and the songs sounded like JAMC tunes without any energy.

Munki:
Intentional or not, it sounded like a train coming off the tracks. Seemed half done on a number of songs like the two either couldn't be bothered or just couldn't stand each other.

Comeback:
One, or was it two(?), really good songs released and then fizzle. Nothing.

I think they've only released one new song since they got back together ... All Things Must Pass. Oh wait, now that I think about it, I think there was some discussion on April Skies about another post-reunion song ... maybe a Jim solo song that they'd kinda turned into a JAMC song.

I haven't seen any recent pix of William cuz he seems to have abandoned myspace, but the last newish ones I saw, he looked a lot better ... thinned down, etc. New missus working on him, I guess. I have to say that when I saw him at their first reunion show in Pomona, I was shocked at his appearance.

Are those demos of Willy's still up there on his myspace page? That was some funky shit, for the most part. When people kinda trashed 'em on April Skies, William posted very defensive comments. He did have a point ... they were v. rough demos, tho why put 'em up where everybody listen to them and comment on them.

Munki ... I like both versions of Rock 'n' Roll, plus Cracking Up, tho I've always found the video for that one disturbing. I don't think William was acting there. Post-reunion, Jim sings this one in concert. William mute.

Meanwhile, I'm curious to see this once it hits the big screen:
