If he was able to get his behavior in check, he'd be able to do a longer tour, his voice would hold out for more than 2 shows, he'd loose the bloat and fat in his face/neck, he'd have some money in the bank, he'd wear clothes that didn't make him look like a hobo, his hair would grow back, my 401(k) would be restored to its former level, the U.S. hockey team would have won the gold on Sunday, spring would have arrived, Toyota's gas pedals wouldn't stick, we'd all win the lottery many times, animals would be able to talk and there would be no checked bag fees.

So Jack, is it? It all starts with saying no to the ribeye.

So I have Ian's fondness for red meat to thank for the gold on Sunday?

What's your point? There are plenty of guys in their 50's still going strong. Some are even beyond their 50's...

Peter Gabriel just turned 60
David Bowie is 63
Paul McCartney is 67
Tony Bennett is 74
Leonard Cohen is 76

Mac is 51

Exactly he's in his fifties and entitled to some extra weight.

However as he is in his fifties he really should have dealt with the alcohol and substance abuse issues a while ago - it is extremely sad.

Totally surrounded by people that indulge him and enable him.

Now a girlfriend as young as his daughter who may not be seeing the bigger picture here.

Ian has 2 daughters with Lorraine - what message is he sending to his children?
That it's ok if Candy goes out with a fifty year old drunken, drug addled sad old clown?

This is what Mimi should hope for in the future?

They have dealt with enough because of his addictions and now this new relationship will add insult to injury.

His family will not be reacting well to this new addition.

If Ian had been in a more sober state he would of not let himself get in this situation, for all his faults he loves his family and when that broke up his bad habits have become his life.

Now he has a new child with a child and he is a child.

When reality hits him if it hasnt already it wont be pretty.

Babies require responsibility and money...

We can only hope the new baby gives him something to live for.

Thank you Jeremy Kyle for your glistening pearls of wisdom. We should all aim to live our lives by your standards, you are a guiding light.

I would agree with Dave though I'm sure at the end of the day all we want is a healthy Mac.

And a new set list.

But first a healthy mac.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Yeah your right Ghosty - maybe I should just throw in a few senseless comments and post some Ronald Mcdonald porn shots and be like you.

Who cares that addiction is life threatening and has a tight grasp on Ian.

Next time your slagging off the bunnymen about cancelled shows, missed flights or what ever else they have done to warrant a kicking just laugh off that addiction has serious ramifications.

Promoters love booking acts that continually cancel because the lead singer has personal issues... especially when they knew certain issues would be arriving at the time of scheduled shows.

All the more reason to start taking care of himself. What's the over-under on if he'll make it to 60?

Today, Lou Reed turns 68 years old. Imagine that.

FFS it's the guy's own choice if he wants to drink, smoke and snort himself to oblivion. It's yours whether you want to buy his "product" or go see him live.

Well ranted Morty. Maybe the baby will give him a reason to get sober.
