Top bands line up for Tall Ships

Ocean Colour Scene and Echo and the Bunnymen will be among the bands to perform on the entertainment stage during the event, which could attract around one million visitors.

Liverpool's indie-rock legends Echo and the Bunnymen will support the headline act – still to be revealed – on Monday, August 9.

I don't think the Bunnymen are indie rock by choice.

Ocean Colour Scene? I didn't know they were still around. File under: Shit indie bands previously presumed missing in action.

Actually, if they gave Tommy from Space a call, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to appear. What about Vic, Mel, Em, the other Mel and Geri? They'd be up for it. What with it being World Cup football year, I feel this Tall Ships thing, if handled properly, could be quite a reunion. You know, there's no official England football team song this year.

Indie is the way to go now, though. Artists are being dropped left and right -- or never being picked up at all. There are no artist development funds unless you can sell hug amounts of records.

And now look at Vampire Weekend--indie boys with a solid sales track and some hits sticking with Rough Trade. The record companies might be kicking themselves for not picking them up.
