Best/worst albums of 2007

Ok folks its that time again for the annual nominations

Best album-Interpol: Our Love to Admire

Crytal clear production, fine tunes and majestic singing reaffirm the quality of Interpol. This band are in it for the long haul and twinned with their juggernaut live shows they once again stamped their class over the British music scene

Posthumous Best Album-Elliot Smith: New Moon

Double cd of pre-XO material/demo's.He sounded good when he was alive but even better now he's dead.Astonishing collection of outtakes that other troubadours would base their whole career around.

Turkey of the year-Editors :An end has a start

Oh dear.Lyrics that make you cringe, overblown production, huge anemic piano ballads....what has happened to this band? From the crunching tension of Munich to the aggression of Liberace in two years is a wonderful career development.Trully repellant MOR crap.

Album I wished I hadnt bought:Klaxons

Oh well.I quite like the singles.

Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Best album: Dinosaur Jr. - "Beyond"

Honorable mention: Jarvis Cocker - "Jarvis"

Worst album: She Wants Revenge - "This is Forever"
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I didn't really get much this year either, mostly because it was all mostly shite. Mostly.

I can never remember what year albums came out. Posting has been pretty light around the holidays in general.

Did Arcade Fire's Neon Bible come out in 2007? I liked that one a lot

Sky Blue Sky by Wilco was great

I was pretty disappointed by the last Super Furry's album, Hey Venus

So much pop music that comes out now flie under my radar - I am baised because of age to certain sounds and production and even age of the musicians -

At our age, can one really judge the gamut of pop music anymore?

It is increasingly difficult to identify with the angst or position in life of a 20 something. Plus I used to see dozens and dozens of shows a year. I think I saw 2 last year and my fav local station changed formats, so my exposure has changed a lot too.

Whenever I'm tempted to congratulate myself for liking a new band, I remind myself that I like them because they sound just like the old bands I like.

The thing is - yeah you are right- but everyone uses the same chords and the same notes- you bond with a music and a style in your teens and then pop music goes to the next generation.
