Mr. Reeves at his dubious best still outshone the Bill + Ted cartoon. Really it was all downhill for my childhood after they pulled Pee Wee's playhouse.

You speak truth. Mr. Reeves was most excellent in the film. He did it so well, that he became a major star for awhile.
