It's that time of the year...........

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

I'm embarrassed to say I've only heard of two of your top ten.

Number one by far is Girls "Album"

I need to figure out my other nine.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Is the Girls album that good? I'll have to check it out.

I haven't heard too much this year that's floated my boat.

Julian Casablancas - 11th Dimension
Fiery Furnaces - I'm Going Away (Check it out, bf! It's their poppiest album yet)
Knight School - The Poor And Needy Need To Party

There's a good number of albums I've heard that were OK but I don't think I'd overly recommend them like the Yeah yeah yeah's album and Telepathe.

I haven't heard any of the albums you listed grumby jimbo, except for the White Lies. I'll have to check out some of those, I'm a big fan of Robin Guthrie.

I just found out about Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. Has anyone heard these guys? Really bizarre, some of the songs are pretty awesome. I'll have to check out more of their stuff.

Wow! Trashcan Sinatras are STILL around? They were big in the 90s. I have a CD of theirs somewhere.

My vote goes to Michael Buble--talented singer, charming personality. This guy will be around for a long time.
Oh, only one? Oops.

The Girls album is fantastic. Beautiful pop melodies, you can hear the sorrow in the lyrics but their is a sense of optimism. It hit me immediately.

Okay here we go.

Lou Barlow - Goodnight Unknown
Dinosaur Jr - Farm
Built to Spill - There Is No Enemy
Flaming Lips - Embryonic
The Fiery Furnaces - I'm Going Away (you're right about the album Mr. Sparkle. Great pop. Fantastic!)
The Horrors - Primary Colours
Jarvis Cocker - Further Complications
Depeche Mode - Sounds of the Universe
Grand Duchy - Petits Fours
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

In no particular order...

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
Mew - No More Stories...
Ian Brown - My Way
Built to Spill - There is No Enemy
Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
Richard Hawley - True Love's Gutter
Deerhunter - Rainwater Cassette Exchange EP
St. Vincent - Actor
Neil Young - Archives

Very much looking forward to the new Spoon LP in 2010.

On EDIT - I forgot the Julian Casablancas solo album which would easily make my top 10. In fact his song "Out of the Blue" is probably my favorite song of the year.

Ian Brown - My Way

I don't think that was released State-side. I do like what I hear on myspace.
Might be worth the import price.

Yeah, like every Ian Brown LP, there's a few duds, but I think it's def stronger than his last LP. Marathon Man, Just Like You, For the Glory, and So High are my faves on this one.

2. Wall of Arms - The Maccabees
3. Primary Colours - The Horrors
4. Broken - Soulsavers
5. The Incident - Porcupine Tree
6. Nonsense In The Dark - Filthy Dukes

Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Depeche Mode--Sounds of the Universe is now number two.

I need to go buy it, even though someone told me I'm not a very good Christian if I listen to that. Whatever.

Yea Yeah Yeahs It's Blitz gets my vote for I want my money back. First track was good and then a slew of acoustic tracks. Bland acoustic songs. Oh, one or two casio songs after the first one.

Actually my purchases are more on the I'd rather return list.
