Coldplay

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Coldplay

So apparently they like to steal stuff from people. They were sued for rearranging "In the Summertime" and passing it off as their own. Same chord progressions and everything. IN some cases, it's difficult not to use the same chord progressions since that's what everyon uses--1-4-5--in most standard music.

Joe Satriani is sueing them too.

Anyone know more about these things?

Yes, Dr. Cheese. Anything you say, Dr. Cheese. Actually they are good background music--you know--something to listen to while you do the dishes.

Why New Order never sued them for stealing the intro of Bizarre Love Triangle for their single Viva La Vida I'll never know................

You can't sue someone for using the same chord progression.
Jazz musicians play an original melody line against jazz standards all the time.
There are only twelve notes. With so many people making pop songs, it is inevitable one song will sound like another.
Are you upset with the Beach Boys for ripping off Chuck Berry? Elvis for ripping off the song Aura Lee?

Then why didn't The Cure sue New Order for ripping off that song from Japanese Whispers?

The Smiths for ripping off either EATB's Silver or Seven Seas - as stated by Stepehen Street?

Not any longer, it was dismissed in court or even an out-of-court settlement may have taken place, allegedly.

Keep them in the background, turn the sound down or even off, especially anything off their last album. I think if I was listening to them while doing the dishes, there would be an awful amount of plates thrown against the wall out of frustration.

Let's just call this what it is is - "Hey I am jumping on the "I hate Coldplay" bandwagon!' and want to criticize the band in anyway I can!!!"

42 is a fantastic song. We would be praising the Bunnymen to high heaven had they written it. Lost, Cemeteries of London are both good. Violet Hill is a really fun tune.

I wish the Bunnymen had made this album.

Look up Insipid, Bedwetting or Tripe in any dictionary and you'll find a picture of Chris Martin next to each one.

What Dr. Cheese said.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Bollocks. I quite liked their second album, as I have previously said (or admitted depending on which side of the fence that you are on). But Coldplay clearly are a bunch of bland toff musicians dressed in silly homemade costumes churning out middle-of-the-road, alternative rock for middle-of-the-road, middle-aged music fans.

We're still talking Coldplay right? Sounds like another band. Can't put my finger on it just yet.

Maybe if you take out the word "toff" and "silly homemade costumes" you might get there. I don't think the frontman of the band that you are thinking of has a first in Latin and Greek from Imperial College, London either.

What's that band called again? Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds?
