One of my favorite musicians has a myspace music page with boring videos and mp3's of early, twee and relatively unambitious songs when in reality the person has matured into something phenomenal as anyone attending the live show will attest. Imagine if the Bunnymen advertised themselves with clips from the worst of The Fountain or Slidling when in reality they have works such as Kansas, No Dark Things, Flaming Red, In Bluer Skies etc.
On the other hand, if they show their best stuff someone will rip it, so they can't win can they?

Why not write to them and say how much you love those clips and videos and that you think they represent the band at their finest, blah, blah, yappity? They might really like that.

I am not telling you because if you go to the persons myspace page you will say the person is "up there with the fairies" or "that video/mp3 is crap." Also the only video that shows the true greatness of the said artist is in my possession and that of the (equally talented) friend of the said artist (who also features) but this person is touring Japan right now, and in any case, why put your greatest work on the web for everyone to nick? Though I suppose in the age of fire sharing beyond the first copies sold to the die-hard fans everything gets ripped off in the end.
