Don't be silly: That's not the Mac. I noticed this silly question also on BOF.

This one is "Ian McCulloch, the author of Moon of Hunger, The Efficiency of Killers, and Parables and Rain (all Penumbra Press, 1983-1993), was born in Comox, B.C., in 1957. His early years were spent as an Air Force gypsy travelling from base to base.... In the early eighties, McCulloch worked on several reserves in northern Alberta, an experience that became the genesis for his first collection of poetry and for the novel Childforever."

There is an army of Mac clones:

Ian McCulloch teaches in a High School in Scotland. He also builds dinghies in his spare time. When he is not teaching or building he is on holiday with his wife. He has a wide knowledge of boats which he enjoys passing on to others. If he is not busy he is not enjoying himself. So his new interest is his websites and blog. Writing articles about boats, holidays etc.

Another book: British Light Infantryman of the Seven Years' War: Lightbobs 1757- 1763 (Warrior) by Ian McCulloch (Author), Tim Todish (Author), Angus McBride (Illustrator) "One of our best accounts of life as a British Light Infantrymen in North America during the Seven Years' War is found in The Memoirs..."

Book: The Artist in His World: Prints, 1986-97 (Hardcover) by Ian McCulloch (Author), Alasdair Gray (Author)

Ian McCulloch (born 5 May 1939) is a Scottish actor.

Quote from Ian McCulloch, the Scottish actor: "Yeah, the new film is the greatest one that I have ever been in. Best thing that I have done."

Ian McCulloch (born July 28, 1971) is an English professional snooker player from Walton-Le-Dale, Preston, Lancashire.

Quote from Ian McCulloch, the snooker player: "Yeah, when I potted the black to win the championships, it was the greatest black that I'd ever potted. Best thing that I have done."

and then after school the parents would ask "what did you learn in school today?" and the kids would reply "Mr. McCulloch just stood in one place the whole time and all I could understand was something about turning the lights down and that the desk they gave him was rubbish"

And the kids would eventually start bunking off school because all of Mr. McCulloch's lessons would be the same as they were the previous term and the previous term before that.

Previous term? Try previous day

Mr. McCulloch: "Zub zub mumble mumble read chapters one through three for tomorrow's class"
Student: "But Mr. McCulloch, you've had us read those same three chapters every night since the beginning of the term"
Mr. McCulloch [plays keepy-uppy with cigarette but before flicking it at student]: "read them in a different order then"

Wouldn't he soccer kick the butt at the insolent student?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Wow, that is the best post ever written. Seriously, it's the best thing you have ever done!

Don't you see the theme emerging between the author and "our" Ian?

The words Killing, Moon, Rain and Soldiers all appear in the titles presented and in The Greatest Album Ever Made--Ocean Rain.

I have a theory that it's the same guy and the whole working class "I don't read" thing was just for image. ;)

Clearly it's not the same man, but I suppose when there is a character named "Will Sawnet" in a book written by an Ian McCulloch as well as the Ocean Rain-related words I guess you might start to wonder.

Hmmm....either that or author Ian really is a fan of Bunny Ian.

I think Mr. McCulloch as a teacher would make the kids study his poetry (lyrics) as literature or make them all read The White Devil.

Don't blame us. YOU invented the word "soccer".

(adopts professor persona). Twue. It is difficult to accurately pinpoint the exact origins of the word "soccer", but other academics believe it was dewived in England during the late 19th Century as a shortened version of the then newly established [English Football] Association as to not confuse one with the hugely popular team sport wugby football. In England, "soccer" is now known widely as "football" or "footie", but over the Atlantic it is weferred to as soccer as to not confuse one with American football.
