Morrissey on Desert Island Discs on Sunday (29 November)

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Shouldn't we be calling him a lyricist as opposed to songwriter? I was actually debating that in my head on Friday and whether Morrissey should try his hand at songwriting.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I heard him called a few things at the Echo Arena gig, none of which included lyricist or songwriter strangely enough.

The shouting was all in Spanish which explains why you couldn't understand it.

I see he's been up to his old tricks again.

Who goes to a Morrissey show to shout fuck you at Morrissey or throw a plastic bottle at him?

It's like going to a Bunnymen forum just to bitch and moan.

What's the point?

I get your point. But it does appear that Morrissey is turning into that kid at school who's easy to get pissed off so someone's bound to wind him up to get a reaction. Why the fuck someone would pay £30-£40 to do so is another question.

I see what you mean. He does seem to have become even more thinned skinned than usual. I have a hard time getting angry with Morrissey though. It must be the residual good will he earned when I was a teen though he is coming close to exhausting it. I use to never miss his shows but now they're in the $70.00 USD range and I've been passing the last few years.

I thought I read the Liverpool gig is being re-scheduled. That's good news for you right?

No, I got an email to say that the gig couldn't be rescheduled and was given a full refund, fair play to them. Still, I'd have willingly made the almost 200 mile round trip to hear him sing (almost) two songs, so I thought it was a fair result. I just hope that recent events don't have a negative effect on his future touring plans.

I suppose it's fair to assume he'll be giving Liverpool a miss next time out.

I'd have gone to a rescheduled show just to see the reaction (on both sides).

You have to admit, watching it on YouTube, it is quality slapstick. It is even more amusing as he sings another line after being hit, then notices his hair is wet and delivers the "Goodnight" in Tommy Cooper style, just like that before sautering off.
