Tarantino is a fan

Postby Mr. Brian » Fri Nov 06, 2009 9:58 pm

Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite movies of all time and Tarantino usually has great soundtracks so maybe this will lead to good things as he is apparently a Bunnymen fan too. Ironically, in the VT headquarters I am flanked by a large Pulp Fiction poster and a Bunnymen poster so this makes me happy to read... http://www.clickliverpool.com/clocked/c ... nymen.html

Hollywood icon Quentin Tarantino was starstruck when he met Liverpool music legends Echo and the Bunnymen and had to sup some Dutch courage before he could chat to them.

The Inglourious Basterds writer-director was devastated that he couldn't see the The Killing Moon singers' concert in L.A. so he appeared on US chat King Jimmy Kimmel's show just to see them perform a three song set.

But Kill Bill superstar Quentin told green room staff on the glitzy show that he 'needed a Martini' before he could meet his musical heroes Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant in the flesh.

Echo and the Bunnymen played Think I Need It Too on the US chat show to promote new album The Fountain and their US tour and Quentin came out as a surprise guest with Katherine Keener.

Ian Mac said: "It was great to meet Quentin, he's as much fun in real life as he is when you see him on TV.

"He was a bit nervous, which we didn't expect, because he said he was a big fan.

"We talked a little about music and Quentin said it was a buzz to see us play.

"I told him to stick us in one of his movies."

On his trip to Liverpool event specialists Purple Revolver took Quentin on a whistle stop tour of music spots like The Cavern, but the Pulp Fiction star declared: 'You don't need the Beatles here... you've got Echo and the Bunnymen, alright.'

I love Jimmy for doing stuff like that with surprise special guests and stuff. Best late night show ever because he makes it seem like he's still the boy next door that used to pull your hair.
I long for the pork of Porcupine. (A slide show dedicated mostly to Will right here.... http://www.examiner.com/rock-music-in-l ... -here-tour)

I read somewhere that Ferguson was an old punk rocker and has good taste in music.

Fergusson had them on for a couple of songs didn't he? I think for Siberia.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I knew Tarantino had to be a fan. I don't know why it just makes sense.

He is an old punk rocker ... played drums, I think.

And I believe he did have the Bunnymen when they were in L.A. a few years ago.

While watching the Jimmy Kimmel broadcast, I had a feeling QT got on the show so he could see them perform. Good for him.

He makes some great films. I especially like his Grindhouse double feature and could watch Death Proof over and over and over. Ha!

That's awesome QT's a fan. He's got incredible music taste and the fact that he went on this show just to see the band proves he's dedicated.

Ian's right, put Echo in one of your movies, Tarantino!

So that's not really BF? I thought it was his yearbook picture from high school or something.

I thought it was a screenshot of him from that home porn movie he made back in the 80s.
