You should see the little heart tears I have tattooed on the outside edge of my eye.

I love how the elderly can say the most reprehensible things and it comes across as hilarious.

My grandfather was like that except he used outdated racial epithets.

Like Pickaninny? My grandma used that one once in the presence of a black child and mother and thought she was being nice. I felt bad for her because she just didn't understand why this was bad. I thought a race riot was going to break out in the Cincinnati Tri-County Mall that day.

His favorite was "coon". Although I remember one time I was watching the Jeffersons with him and he was like "I love that little ni$%er". And of course he called me and my brothers his little beaners.

The funny thing is he was highly educated, a WWII vet, worked for Lockheed's Skunk Works (specifically on the SR-71 and the U2 spy planes) and even worked at Area 51.

I honestly think he wasn't racist though. I just think that's the way he was raised and didn't know any better.

Just downloaded the Fountain last night but am so fascinated with the very early Bunnymen that it's hard to even give the new stuff a chance. Just found old tracks from the allegedly abysmal "Shine So Hard" film. They were musically/vocally stunning, so whereever the sound came from, kudos to nearly 30 years ago. Wish I could go back in time.
I long for the pork of Porcupine. (A slide show dedicated mostly to Will right here.... http://www.examiner.com/rock-music-in-l ... -here-tour)

you almost described my dad there. would be horrified if anyone called him a racist but often uses what you call inappropriate language. fortunately he has three grand daughters to keep him on the straight and narrow. last year we all went for a chinese meal and two sikh blokes walked in . he didn't say anything bad but his incredulity that two blokes in turbans might want a sweet and sour noodles with everything, announced very loudly to the whole restaurant that got the looks and abit of a telling off from the grand daughters (just how do you spell that). Its the P word that gets people riled around these parts. as in short for 'paki', which is in turn short for pakistani. young prince harry got himself in trouble over that as did some bloke on the telly quite recently.
