Early Liverpool Scene Links

Some pretty good stuff here, including an early recording of Books, with Ian on vocals. The blogger says it's from an original A Shallow Madness rehearsal recording. I think Cope released this a few years ago, but I don't remember on what.

Thanks, that's a great link.

That version of Books appeared on one of Cope's Floored Genius comps. I think it was 3.

Funny a blog about Liverpool Post-punk. America still hasn't figured out what that is and it's been 25 years. They lump it all into "new wave." Buncha loonies.

"Echo and The Bunnymen was one example. Their first show at Eric's was chaos - they only had one song and played it for twenty minutes. The drum machine was the only thing that could play."

Where's that quote from? Freaking hysterical. I can imagine. I mean, good thing they didn't give up, right?

Watch it Pavarotti, I'm from New York and I'm well aware of the distinction.

Ah, right on - Zoology it is. The Floored Genius that I'm thinking of has a cover of Satisfaction with Will on guitar - it's really pretty terrible. It also features this goofy picture of Mac on the back. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uA0Qmw-5xrg/R ... adness.jpg

Are you sure it's the same track? I have the Zoo Uncaged compilation and there's a "Books" from The Teardrop Explodes on it, but it has Cope on vocals instead of Ian. Both songs have the same backing instruments. It's like Cope re-recorded the vocals and slapped The Teardrops name on it.

Here's the Zoo Uncaged thing:

Hmmm, maybe Cope did do that.

Zoology is different than Zoo Uncaged. Zoology is all Teardrops related tracks.

On Zoology, who is singing the vocals for "Books"? Cope or Ian?

I just gotta know!

It's Ian. It's the same version that's in the second link you provided up top.
