Mac's Voice

Postby DivaDiana77 » Sun Nov 01, 2009 4:14 pm

He had incredible range and expression he was doing and trying to do things that no one else was doing. Sure there were some vocal problems, but a lot of that had to do with youth and lack of vocal training. That voice is unforgettable. He could have it back if he took care of it--cutting back on smoking, etc.

You think with training and taking better are of himself he could get almost all of it back?

He was pretty impressive at the NY OR show.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Yes. That was my area of study in music. Not only could he get it back, it would most likely be even better than it was. 20-24 when they did most of their early stuff is very young for a singer and he was already showing huge range, especially on Ocean Rain. He was already showing more control by 26-27 when Echo & the Bunnymen came out from what I have seen and heard.

It would take giving up quite a bit of smoking, some drinking and taking care not to talk when there is alot of background noise. Opera singers get really neurotic about it. I used to be one. Too neurotic for me.

Yeah, I suppose I'm dreaming. Opera singers are far too neurotic about it, but rock singers would benefit from some of the tips. Tom Cruise YECH!! I'd far rather pluck out my eyebrows than hear him sing.

Anything Tom Cruise is eeeeewwwwww!!!!!

But back to Mac ... he should go see Dave Gahan's voice coach. Although, didn't he say recently that he likes the way his voice sounds now? Mac, that is.

Naw. He should hire me! I am classically trained and have been listening to his since I was 10. I know what he's all about better than anyone. plus I have a kick-ass voice myself. (OK, I just might have a big attitude and a big mouth though not as big as his.) I think he might get a kick out of me.

I assume he claims he likes the way the voice sounds now so he can continue the lazy route and not do anything about it. And it's easier than facing the truth.

Like when you gain 10 pounds and say "I still look good, even though my pants are too tight."

Yeah, I figure that's why he's saying what he's saying, tho maybe he really does like his new and "improved" voice. He knows he's capable too ... it sounded like he worked on it before the OR shows last year ... def. sounded better then.

He likes sounding "manly" as opposed to sounding like an angry, skinny kid with a large, ungainly voice. He could still have that even if he backed off on the smoking a bit.

And come on, we know half the time he's talking smack by now.

Wonder if any of them read these pages...
