Saying that you had to sit down to listen to older stuff but can just have the new album on is admitting that the new stuff is muzak.
Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

I was hoping that was an editorial mistake.

He should go with "Ego and the Bunnymen" and leave it at that.

guitar player sure is purdy.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Really? Does Will actually appear on this album?

Only in 10-20 second clips.

It sounds like Ian is challenging Will to quit the band with some of these quotes recently.

Isn't it politically incorrect to stereotype people from the South? I mean at least 10% must be perfectly normal!

I laughed when I read that Mac said this:

There's a punkier angle to the bass and drums on this record. But like, proper Chris Thomas-produced Sex Pistols punk rather than, you know, the other kind of scruffy punk.

Sorry, now there are parts of the Fountain that I think are very good, but to associate the word "punk" with anything on the album is delusional. Sad.

IMO Will is the only thing enabling the "Bunnymen" to hang on to any remaining credibility these days, if he did tell Mac to shove it up his arse (and who could blame him) I can't imagine Mac trying to carry on the Bunnymen name without him - although he does refer to Echo and The Bunnymen as a "banner" (whatever that means) in the interview so who knows.

This interview is probably the final straw in a long line of final straws.

"Well, this album was co-written with people. It was a production team." So its Bunnymen-by-numbers then.

"I play most of the guitars". Again, Bunnymen in name only then.

"Some of our records you have to listen to more because, you know, most people are pretty one-dimensional. So we try to give them as many dimensions on this record while still catering to their simplicity". Thats you Dave Smith. You know all the money you spend on tickets and petrol? This is your thanks.

"But if it's a name as strange as Echo and The Bunnymen, that's not necessarily a band name, that's a banner or something." I cant sell records under my own name so I'll use the brand, I mean banner, to shift a few units by catering to the hardcores simplicity.

What a complete twat this guy is.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Of course that's me, darnit. I grew me a mullet and whiskers, I say a mullet and whiskers, after yesteday's oath of allegiance to the good ol USA. Hot dickety dang.

I reckon he would if Will was to leave now. Just get a session musician in as a replacement (as was done with Les) as it's a product or brand, not a band - so the name, in theory, could carry on even in a different guise, phasing it through to Mac being solo heading into retirement. In all honesty, if the product just stuck to tours, didn't release another album for a several more years and the greatest hits setlist still sounded roughly the same, other than the fans, would anyone actually notice or care for that matter? It sounds kind of nasty, certainly for the those who might associate the Bunnymen being Mac and Will (others obviously Mac, Will, Les and Pete), but you have to say that the Bunnymen name has now become more and more synonymous with Mac, certainly in press interviews. You never see or hear the two being interviewed together anymore.
