L.A. Nokia show

Mac seemed impressed when I shouted out Avalanche at his solo show. I thought he was considering it but no dice. No matter. Still a great show.

There was a stretch there where people were shouting out song suggestions, and at some point, Mac asked the audience if there were any questions -- or maybe requests (hard to understand that mumble of his) -- Jane and Octavia, did you hear what he said?

"L.A's Time Square"?!That's funny! It was my 1st time there and I told my husband it reminded me of citywalk or Downtown Disney. REALLY corny decor inside with that large type on the walls (same as they had in the Wolfgang Puck rest. in the complex)

I posted on the other site that I didn't think the sound was that great either, compared to L.A.'s smaller clubs.
I did see Bryan Ferry a few yrs. back at the same place they have the Oscars + Amer. Idol, you know, the Kodak at Hollywood + Highland. The sound was better there than the Nokia, imo. Also, better at the Greek which is outside, but somehow the sound doesn't get lost, right?

I have NEVER been able to understand Mac when he's talking to the audience, only singing, for some reason. I think it's because he mumbles.
He has a great swagger, though! I hope he lives to be 100 and still walks like that!
Why didn't he have a suit and tie on for OR like everyone else in the band?

Regarding U2, I don't own any of their cd's or dvd's or iPhones or blackberries or anything they've branded, and I don't intend to. Meanwhile I own the entire Bunnymen catalog.

I saw a half hour documentary on U2 on VH1 once. I forget the amount of money it costs in electricity alone to stage one of their shows, but it was enough to feed a third world country for months. I thought, you f*cking hypocrit Bono.

I wish they'd just award him the Nobel Peace Prize and be done with it. Then maybe he'd go away.

Dammit, I was too far away to see the swagger! Next time, I'll wear my front row shoes for sure.

The whole idea that L.A. Live could replicate Times Square, when it's nothing but a glorified Downtown Disney without all the glassy-eyed survivors of the "Happiest Place on Earth" is too funny to be believed.

The Nokia Theatre did have a barn-like feeling to it, which is weird, because it was built as a concert hall. Tho maybe not the correct acoustics for an orchestra? That's too bad. In New York, I think the choice of venue def. added to the magic of the evening. The sound was glorious at RCMH. As I said before, I enjoyed the L.A. show, I just wish the sound had been better.

I walked by the Yard House before the show and saw that it was a zoo. I wouldn't have a clue who to look for, and besides, it would feel like I'm stepping into someones ongoing conversation.

I was fortunate to have a seat directly in front of Will, although it was never used once the music began. They sent me over the wall for their short time on stage, into that unique emotional state that made the trip so worth while. For me it was all Will this evening, mesmerized by his hand movements that made such a beautiful sound. I'd do it all over again. And it won't be soon enough.

I just skimmed it ... it was a nice review of the show.

It was a flattering review. Not very analytical, but knowledgeable and flattering. I'm a fluent Spanish speaker and I guess I would fit in under "Mexicans sure love their post punk." Why yes, yes I do. Thank you KROQ. Rescue got my attention waaaaaaaay back.
