All around, I thought it was a good show. The magic is not gone for me; still felt that same excitement that I had from the first time I saw them in '87. Yes, Mac still has voice issues, but I thought he sounded better than I remember from recent shows. The best part was he was happy and made a comment about liking the venue. Awesome awesome time.

I posted some pics here. Even though I had a straight clear view of mac, there were lots of heads to the left and right of that view that unfortunately made it into the pics.

God knows I love the Bunnymen (Sat's show was rather entertaining), but the band has never been the same since they lost their original rhythm section (Les, RIP Pete). It pains me to admit that new song is MOR dogshit. Nice review, Andrew.

That's weird that the fake "Fab Four" were playing across the street from the real Fab Four! I didn't notice, BUT I did notice all the zombies at the various restaurant's outside tables. First I thought it was the Zombie Pub Crawl, but that's not until next week.
Next time the Bunnymen come to town I hope it will be nowhere near the same time as U2 does. I was SO tired of all the radio stations going on all week about the RoseBowl and the "masterpiece" new release. I'm no MJ fan, but would rather hear "Thriller" overkill than"If We Don't Go Crazy, We Can All Go Crazy"

L.A. takes a lot of putdowns and will NEVER be NYC to most, but (having grown up on the east coast for my 1st 40 yrs. and then moving to L.A. ), I can say that there's nowhere like THIS city either. And it's not only the dreadful Socal weather we're subjected to most of the time ; )

I watched the start of the U2 concert on the youtube last night, and that was one massive audience. No thanks. If U2 were to play the Nokia Theatre for $25 a pop, I wouldn't turn down a ticket, but I would if the bunnyboys were playing the same night in L.A. I still think their songs are more interesting that U2's.

I hope the next time Mac & Co. play L.A., it's at a smaller venue, and not the Club Nokia. That place is cold and corporate, and the sound's not too hot. And for the number of tickets they prolly sold Saturday night, they could've played the Wiltern, which has pretty good acoustics. Oh well.

There was a stretch there where people were shouting out song suggestions, and at some point, Mac asked the audience if there were any questions -- or maybe requests (hard to understand that mumble of his) -- Jane and Octavia, did you hear what he said?

Mac seemed impressed when I shouted out Avalanche at his solo show. I thought he was considering it but no dice. No matter. Still a great show.

The Troubadour would be great. It's not unprecedented ... the Cure played a free show there in the last year or so. The El Rey would be great too. Nice venue, nice sound. and free street parking.
