Rate the post reunion albums

I don't think it's really fair to rate the 5 post 1997 albums against the 5 80's albums. These are different people, Mac sings differently and they approach songwriting differently (really since the Grey Album). That was a whole different band in the 80's. You could actually argue that the post 97 line-ups were several different bands but lets just split it down the middle even-steven and compare the last 5 albums against themselves.

Rate the post reunion albums:

1997 Evergreen
1999 What Are You Going To Do With Your Life?
2001 Flowers
2005 Siberia
2009 The Fountain

Here's mine in order of preference from favorite to least favorite:

Evergreen
What Are You Going To Do With Your Life?
The Fountain
Siberia
Flowers

I have to be honest it was a real toss-up on how to rank Siberia vs Flowers. I think Siberia was a better sounding album overall and Flowers just sounded unfinished to me. Plus I really really hate the cover of Flowers. Worst Bunnymen album cover ever. Worse than The Fountain but to be honest other than Evergreen, which was just a play on the Crocodiles cover, all the post 97 covers are pretty lackluster for any band.

I would not have noticed the 90s output had it not been for the 80s.

Unless we were to include:

Oh very true but you can't really compare Ocean Rain or HUH to Siberia any more than one could compare Sergeant Pepper or Revolver to McCartney's 2009 Memory Almost Full which is a fine album in it's own right but it's not the same guys making the music. That's all I'm saying.

Siberia
WAYGTDWYL
The Fountain
Evergreen
Flowers

To be honest none of the albums are that great or memorable, IMO. "Solid" would be a good description of the new stuff. There's usually a few songs off each album I like a lot except for Evergreen and Flowers, which contain no songs that I hardly ever return to.

Also, while The Fountain is an extremely frustrating album, IMO, Forgotten Fields is a certifiable classic that ranks up there with some of the Bunnymen's 80's material. Best song they've done since getting back together. That and Avalanche.

1. Siberia
2. Evergreen
3. WAYGTDWYL
4. The Fountain
5. Flowers (horrible cover and title)

Siberia is tops on the strength of All Because of You Days, In the Margins and Of a Life. I like I'll Fly Tonight on Evergreen, pretty much the whole album is pleasant on WAYGTDWYL, Life of 1000 Crimes gives The Fountain the nod and I used to like Flowers till Hide and Seek became one of the songs trapped in my CD player.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

1. Siberia
2. Evergreen
3. WAYGTDWYL?
4. Flowers
5. The Fountain

I was actually torn between Siberia and Evergreen, but the latter lost out with a couple of tracks that I never liked (I Want to Be There, Don't Let It Get You Down, Baseball Bill), whereas the really duff track on Siberia is What If We Are? Flowers I rate more highly than The Fountain, even with its awful cover, nice verses and nowhere choruses on a number of tracks.

Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.
