The Pixies

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

I've never seen the Pixies accoustic but FB accoustic are among my concert going highlights
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I love the Pixies yet at the same time feel they are the cause of emo. And being old and grumpy spite them for it.

Emo? Are you crazy? The last thing Black Francis went on about was his feelings and all Kim Deal ever sings about is big, fat cocks. If you're gonna blame anyone for Emo it's Lou Barlow, definitely not the Pixies.

Emo generally goes soft - loud - Cobain cahsed in and then emo followed suit. What they are singin about is beyond me because the music itself turns me off.

I blame Les Paul for inventing one of the first solid body electric guitars. Bastard.

Don't even get me started about. Les Paul. You know that is a real sore spot that is.

I was reading about the Pixies "Minotaur" box sets the other day and considering buying one (probably the cheapest of the two). Anyone bought either of them, have they shipped yet?

Last month, Pixies played four wildly-acclaimed shows at Brixton Academy, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough album, Doolittle. The audio recordings from all four shows were then made available to purchase from the band's online store (pixieslive.sandbag.uk.com) [this link didn't work], either as CD, MP3 or a new-fangled USB wristband that also includes exclusive videos. Although you could already listen to 30-second previews of any of the songs from any night, the band seem to have decided that the live albums needed a push. As well as now offering 3-for-2 on any purchase, they've just made available a free, four-song digital EP recorded on the Paris leg of the tour. Download it from http://www.pixiesmusic.com for three belting tracks from Doolittle (including a rapturously received Monkey Gone to Heaven), plus the obscure-but-rollicking B-side Manta Ray. And don't be too surprised if you then find yourself paying to download the whole set.
