Just watched them on youtube - great version of The Cutter, Think I Need It Too ... hmmmm, Do You Know Who I Am? Awful, Mac badly out of tune and Gordy prancing about like a gimp. Thank God for Will.

The Cutter still gives me shivers when it goes from Mac's "drop in the ocean" to Will's big explosive guitar section and then into the "by the happy loss...". Good stuff and great performance.

I wish they did The Fountain from the CD instead of Do You Know Who I Am.

Assuming that they picked one that Will could have joined in as well - Forgotten Fields might have been more suitable.

Thanks for the links, Mr. Brian.

Has anybody seen Gordy and Lyle Lovett in the same room?

Thanks for the links, Mr. Brian. Fabulous! This is the best they've sounded live in a long time.

I think the new songs were written expressly so that Gordy/Lyle could do back up vocals. He does love to "doo doo doo" into the microphone ever since he joined the band.

thanks, I was looking for these yesterday and couldn't find them on youtube. The Cutter does sound really good. I will say on Do You Know... you can hear a cool little bass riff leading into the chorus that is really hard to hear on the album version.

Holy fuck that has got to be the best live version of the Cutter I've heard in years. It's not perfect by any means but Dr. C is right, thank God for Will and Mac at certain points sounds like he's 30 years younger.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Seems Mac is smiling while singing Do You Know Who I Am?. Must be thinking to himself "Who the fuck wrote those lyrics?"

I hate the way the drummer plays on the Jules show. I miss the pounding drums and little rolls and cooking along on the high hat rather than just riding the ride. I know it sounds petty - but Pete's drumming truly is part of what set the Bunnymen sound. If you aren't going to play it, at least put something interesting of your own in there.
That being said, the drummer shines on the new material. Too bad the material itself doesn't.

Bass player sounds great as do both Will and the other guitar player.

Mac's voice is truly shot.

I had the exact same thought. Pretty danged generic drumming to be putting out on a song like The Cutter.
