Yeah - the song is lame. I am trying, though. I really am.

In his defense he has cut the hair. Maybe the outfit next.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

It sounded pretty good live. I thought it was lip-synched until the final "think I need it too" and the way he delivered that line.

In case anybody cares, the paid download of that song (from Amazon) is far superior to the many free mp3's of it I've downloaded over the past year or so. The nuances actually make it sound like a Bunnymen song.

Now you can get the song for free on their web-site. Just got the Twitter text for it.

Now we know why Ian doesn't sweat despite having 12 layers of clothing on stage.

I really wanted to like the song and performance last night

But it was my worst nightmare

It just did'nt work for me

I think its all up for me,

Besides I'm expecting a hostile reception at the bunny gigs, since being kicked of the BOF

Funny really

You once said that football was the only time you like being part of 40,000 people. What’s it like going to see Liverpool play these days?

Mac: I gave my season ticket away to Peasy [Mac’s Manager]. But it’s more an issue I have with finding the time than actually going off the actual game or indeed the club. I’m a Liverpool fan and that’s that. But yeah, there’s only Carragher and Gerard I can relate too on the field. And sadly that’s it. That’s the way it is now and we all have to deal with it. I don’t want to appear that I’m lamenting the golden age, and all that, it’s just I could identify with the entire team when I was a kid. I knew who they were and where they came from. And if you told them they were playing shit they would understand you.

Me neither, there just doesn't seem to be any spark there at the moment and I'd be much happier if they binned Gordy and chained a guitar round Mac's neck and forced him to play it.

Didnt watch Jools last night but just watched the You Tube clip...

Observations

It was nowhere near as bad as I feared

The guitar sounded great

Its a better song than Stormy Weather, but in the Bunnymen's heyday wouldnt have got beyond rehearsals

The backing band look like a right load of gimps

If I was a random punter who had lost touch with the Bunnymen for years and then saw that, I'd think "that wasnt too bad in a nostalgic sort of way"

The Bunnymens themselves set the bar so high - can I really punish them for that?

Not awe-inspiring but not a disaster either

Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Think I Need It Too is awful live. I haven't changed my mind on that one since I saw it for the first time on You Tube, and is probably why I dislike the song. Hope they picked a fairly decent one for the "classic track" (somehow I think it'll be The Killing Moon... again).

The Bunnymen though were probably the highlight of the show last night. Andy Williams sounds very old now (which he obviously is), that The Spaghetti Western Orchestra is just comedy, Biffy Clyro heard it before and Calvin Harris, fairly okay melodies mixed with annoying dated early 1990s dance music.

I'll give them that but as you point out there wasn't much competition. Andy Williams, legend or not, looked a bit senile and decrepit when he was talking to Jools and his singing made me wince even more than Mac's.
