Mojo and Q review

Postby fat cherry » Wed Sep 30, 2009 11:36 am

Two short reviews but not short enough to remember it all.

Mojo is another 2 star review - 'as essential as a book pf new jokes from bobby davro'. and thats the polite bit.

Q is the bog standard 2 star made up in the pub review. doesn't say anything rude but fills the space adequately.

So has mac pissed someone off? Just thinking, total lack of coverage for the glasto ocean rain and two scathing album reviews. and dont tell me journos are all fine upstanding chaps who listen to every albun five times over.

Reminds me of this shit Amazon.com review of Songs to Learn and Sing. Is this chick listening to the same band? What Ian McCulloch lacked in vocal range?

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
Songs to Learn and Sing is a staple in the collection of post-new-wave rock. It was an era when the term progressive had just replaced the word alternative to describe music that was just too cool for American radio. This album is a compilation of Echo and the Bunnymen's British chart toppers from 1980 to 1985. The only song on this album that received attention beyond the band's cult following was "Bring on the Dancing Horses," made famous by its inclusion in the Pretty in Pink soundtrack. Echo and the Bunnymen are a tinny, twangy, ever-so-slightly-out-of-tune guitar band. What lead singer Ian McCulloch lacked in vocal range he made up for by embracing his comfort zone with full-force cracking, emotional yelps. A distinctive, recognizable sound, even to the barely initiated, this album marks an era yet is so enjoyable, it remains proudly timeless. --Beth Bessmer
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Or it could just be that the album is shit.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

You must have a misprinted copy  Mine gave three stars and a reasonable review. I Think I Need It Too was also listed as one of the fifty essential downloads for this month and in that article called The Fountain the best album since they reformed.

I haven't read the Q review, but their website lists Shroud of Turin in the top 50 essential tracks to download this month (no 16) saying "Ian McCulloch chats with God in knowingly daft rhyme in this chiming stand-out from the Liverpool legends' best album since their '90s re-formation."

correct..... as mrs clinton said, i mispoke, or mistyped at least. thats why i said - bog standard - 3 star, neither here nor there. at least with a 2 or 1 star you know you've irritated them a bit.

Ah, you're right, I got the wrong song.
