Burned is a great album. Love Lowdown and Sister Pain and all the rest.

well you dont have to call it anything do you - though obviously if we all did that then we wouldn't be able to have such interesting conversations and oads of pubs would be silent every friday night. i never reall yknew what grunge was anyway, wasn't really paying attention. thought zephyr ep was really good and was a bit disappointed by the album which sounded a bit weedy by comparison. And they kept putting subtly different versions of stuff out as B sides that were better than the album versions - morrorball and lowdown spring to mind. i love how the fuzz guitar kicks in in lowdown , almost unnoticed and then takes over. In terms of lyrics, with the exception of holy grail which is just silly i'd say its lyrically streets ahead of what mac is chucking out now. Like that bloke said on the forum the other year, he cant sing a line without mentioning love (i mean, ewww) and I or you. much prefer 'see you in hell with the rest of the trash'. now... wheres my therapists number.

Well to tell the truth that's just the prototype. The real one in the corner of my basement is not nearly as exciting.

I have seen the artist's concept for the real VT HQ and it is not particularly good at all.

I agree 100% with this post. I don't know what I'd call Electrafixion's music, but definitely not grunge, you look at bands like Mudhoney, early Soundgarden, Melvins, Nirvana, etc. that's grunge, for the most part it's specific to the Pacific Northwest area of the US and it really doesn't sound anything like Electrafixion. I'm pretty sure Ian and Will said around the time of that album that they were influenced bt The Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana.

I liked the Zephyr EP/single 4 song release, but with Burned, like Evergreen, it seemed like the boys were trying to cash in on what was popular at the time.

I think Ian has progressively gotten worse as a songwriter and lyricist, I'd gladly take Candleland part 2 with Will playing guitar as opposed to some of the stuff I've heard on the Fountain, which sounds like Slideling part 2 with Will playing on it.

It's funny, people slam the Gray album all the time (and for some good reasons) but it has more interesting lyrics and music than a lot of the new stuff, IMO.

The exception. And to be honest, it sounds nothing like Bleach so I'd say too ploished to be grunge.

That's why I'd define it as a mix of post-grunge, clearly influenced by grunge bands like Nirvana, and the mix of alternative rock that came from Smashing Pumpkins. I just think calling it alternative rock is too narrow. Shit, I sound like the eejits that defined British music 1995- as Britpop.

What about Macwillpop? You could have a number of genres. The 1995 heavy Macwillpop, commonly known as Macwillrock, that defined Electrafixion's sound. Macpost-britpop for the 1997 Evergreen album, Macballadsnowillpop for WAYGTDWYL? Macpost-britpop again for Flowers, Revisionistmacbunnymenpop for Siberia and back to Macballadssomeuptemposongs-nowillpop for The Fountain.
