Think I Need It Too co-writer?

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

The News of the World, in its often respected music reviews, billed it as "one of their best ballads in years - a big-hearted singalong". "Ballad"? Think someone sent the wrong track there or they recycled copy from 1999's review of Rust.

The thought of them getting together and saying I guess we better write this next batch with that classic Bunnymen sound (as implied by management's post) is almost more than I can handle. It shouldn't be a formula to please fans. Of course I won't be happy till they go to Nashville and record an album there so take anything I say with a grain of salt. If I had my way Mac would be wearing a ten gallon hat and singing about his wife and dog leaving him.

I still don't understand what that management post was all about, but I guess it explains a lot if they are the actual management for the band.

I'll try to be positive, I really like Forgotten Fields and from all accounts, November is a good song.

I half remember the uncut review form readinng it in the shop. the only song they rated was the idolness of gods, though there was abit of a backhanded compliment about his voice.

Yeah, that's the one. It was a little while back.

What did they say about Idolness of Gods? According to Ian, that's one of the best songs he's ever written.

Get out of here! This is blowing my mind. Me, I'm an atheist but to some that makes me totally into Satan by proxy. I like those cracked pepper Triscuit's too but I have a feeling Mac is more of a Pringles Ranch guy.

Yeah they also threw in a "maybe they'll do a classic Bunnymen album in a few years" bone for us in that post. The thought of them turning the the "classic Bunnymen" switch on and off was a bit stomach turning.

In 88 Mac had a meeting with Will in which Will says they agreed the next album needed to be an album of Do It Clean's.Mac then leaves. Now Mac's writing style is quite balladry so if you dont like that then you're not going to take to it.Personally I think WYGDWYL is one of their best ever albums and I play it more than any post-reunion output.I also think Slideling is twice the abum that Flowers was.Flowers is just a horrible badly recorded mess.

I know its all commercial but they are back on Jools Holland after 12 years on the BBC and being played more on the radio since Nothing Lasts Forever so really its all good coverage.

I bet there are a lot of surprises out there when it comes to input from someone not listed on the writing credits for a band.

Many consider Killing Moon to be one of the all time greatest songs ever written in no small part to the opening riff - and as was stated before the riff was pretty much written by someone outside the band.

the riff was looped by someone else -- the riff was written by Will and the producer did his magic

there are some guys who can't write a riff but give them a riff and they can do wonders with it - listen to what norman cook did with the song by corner shop

Playgrounds and City Parks is amazing. Probably number 40 something in my top ten of all time songs.

Scouser got it dead on when he said my top ten had like 150 songs in it.
