Free Career Advice for Will

Find that Mercury Rev ex (I think David Baker is his name) and cut an album. I think it could be pure genius and according to Turquoise Days (I think) that was in the cards at one time.

You don't have to break up the Bunnymen but I wish you were getting more stuff out there on your own. Too much talent to confine to just one musical project. You're the greatest English guitarist ever. Actually I can't think of one I like better so you're the greatest in the world.

I'm in total agreement there. I always think that Will is one of those guitarists - as a side thing to the Bunnymen - who really ought to release a guitar-based solo album where he collaborates with and gets a mix of well-known male and female singers to provide vocals. Produce and write, co-write the whole thing. That would be one hell of an interesting album.

Curvature of the Earth is brilliant. I wish/hope that Will has another Glide project in the works that will be released someday. Collaborating with other musicians like suggested above would be an interesting treat too...

although when the bunnymen weren't that active he was putting out stuff with alsorts of people - mainly associated with the ochre label and all a bit low key. i htink he's too much of a key kinda guy to be touring with dave grohl and that led zep bloke. plus it'd get in the way of the quiz nights.

Mercury Rev sure went downhill when David Baker left/was kicked out. I was never sure what he did in the band, though, I guess he was one of the singers. Boces is a great album by the band that everyone should check.

As for Will, it's pretty frustrating since it's obvious that he still has the goods but is wasting it on some questionable stuff. There's some good stuff in there, too, though.

I don't know if Will really has the drive or is interested in doing a project with a bunch of different singers or artists. It would be cool, though. He was involved with the Serpents, who released one of the best experimental albums I've ever heard. I wish they'd do another album.

I think they were great all the way up until Al Is Dream.

I really like Will's sound and wish he were given a more prominant role in the writing and playing of new music. OK, here I go again and mention my first love, Van Halen. In that band its really a duel between Eddie and whoever's the lead vocalist at the time, both playing prominant roles, Eddie always winning in the end. Maybe Will just does not have the ego needed to push his way to stand besides Ian on center stage.

Thanks for the tip, I'll need to find a copy of Curvature of the Earth.

perhaps the fact that according to many that Will is not arsed is the reaosn the bunnymen do not sound the same -- is it that will sits aroud all day waiting for Mac to come to him with songsd for Will to put something on

I always thought his guitar on the Family of God's "Follow the Lights" was classic Will. All three of their albums are well worth a listen but as far as I know that was the only track Will played on?

If you believe Mac in his interviews then that sounds about right. It's always my songs, best song I ever wrote, etc. Then there was that Les interview where he says Mac was basically forcing everyone out of the songwriting process.
