The Obligatory Contented of Hove Thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Good luck with that.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

If anything it just makes me appreciate the healthy balance I keep between real life and this forum.

About a month before the concert, was having a drink in a bar in town. There were competition entry cards on all the tables. You had to answer a question and submit card.
I noticed that the cards were still sitting untouched on most tables. I went round and asked if I could have them. Must have filled out about 10. I put the name of a friend ,and big Nick fan, on one of the cards.
As the concert date drew nearer, I guessed we had had no luck in the competition. Wasn't too put out as we already had tickets for the official concert the following night (the Hopstore was mainly for journos, radio and TV folk - no tix available to the general pleb at large).
The day before the gig, my friend whose name was on the card called me and said she'd just got home in time to see a courier leaving her front door. She'd received delivery of two tickets and had no idea why.
We were in the front row the following night. Nick mostly played piano alone but was accompanied by Warren Ellis a for a few songs. It was a brilliant evening. Free Guinness for the night too.

Btw, the question was to name the duet Nick sang with Shane McGowan.
