The Obligatory Depeche Mode thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

OK let's pull it together people.

Stay frosty out there.

Depeche Mode
If you were watching "True Blood" on Sunday night, you probably noticed the teaser for the season finale before the show had "Corrupt" as the backing track.

HBO has now put a longer version of the teaser clip online, and it include...s the band, taken from the "Studio Sessions" on the Sounds Of The Universe box set!

Kerry Hopwood is the Live Programmer/Musical Director for Depeche Mode. When it comes to staging a live DM show, there's no cutting corners. Kerry puts it simply: "We need to use tools that work." In concert, Kerry and Depeche Mode rely on Ableton Live as an integral component of shaping the band's drum sound. In this movie, shot at a concert in Berlin's Olympiastadion, Kerry discusses the advantages that Live offers for on-stage sound processing.

In the UK we are only half way through Season 1 of True Blood!
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Is it worth slogging through to see Anna Pacquin's titties?

I think I've come to the decision to call it a day on the Bunnymen shows, even ones in Los Angeles. After seeing Depeche Mode just recently and the energy and enthusiasm that Dave and Martin gave I don't think I can stomach another self centered Mac performance ever again. Wrong or not I got the feeling that DM appreciated the fact we were there to see them and it felt like we were loved back. The look of genuine happiness on Dave and Martin's faces was something I'll never forget and the effort Dave put out knowing things haven't gone so well for him, just made me love them more. Plus the Ocean Rain NY show was such a positive experience for me with the friendships I made and a great performance from Mac that I know that can never be duplicated, there really isn't a point anymore.

So in closing I'd like to say thanks Depeche Mode for ruining the Bunnymen live for me forever. Anything else you wanna take from me?

But I am still amazed that the DM show in such a large venue was such a (warning: clichéd term coming) spiritual experience. I left the Honda Center spinning and it's been all I've been talking about since.

I'm thinking of letting the live shows go as well. Not that I've seen DM in concert, but I can't get excited to expend the time and energy (and cost of the ticket, etc.) to get the same set with 2 new songs that aren't really that new. I'm not that young anymore and it takes a toll to be standing for upwards of 4 hours for not much reward. Plus, the cost of the Boston show starts at $25 (more like $40 after fees) for standing room only. Isn't that a little pricey? I remember seeing Electrafixion in 1996 for nine bucks. Those were the days.

[s]BF? Are you still going to see them at the Nokia?[/s]

Ooops, never mind. I just read the other post. Sorry.

Yeah no Nokia for me.

The Bunnymen BBQ will still be held at my house when you can all make it to La Puente. Should we start checking our schedules?

Shows I will still attend:

Anything Frank Black related
Danzig
Front 242
KMFDM
Depeche Mode
Agent Ribbons (everybody's favorite)
The Nice Boys
The Heartaches

and I'll probably go see The Horrors when they come to Pomona. $15.00 ain't half bad.
