If you fly back out to L.A. we'll go wherever you please including and especially Massive Camel Toe Middle Aged COver Band place.

I dunno ... when I saw the Sex Pistols in London a couple years ago, it was a pretty rowdy crowd. No quietly standing about and politely huzzahing. And nobody madly texting during the show either!

This place sounds cool

The Far Bar

Neighborhood: Downtown
347 E 1st St
Los Angeles, CA 90012

(213) 617-9990

Here's a review

To say that this is my favorite hangout spot in LA is a vast understatement. Since our first visit we've returned many times a month (driving from Pasadena), because it's just that good. My friends always know that if we're going to Far Bar, there's a wonderful night ahead.

The bartenders (Skyey and Sybil) are THE BEST in the business. I don't say this lightly. I've been to bars all over the world, and have never encountered anyone like them. If you order a Jack and Coke, you'll get a Jack and Coke. Beer is beer. But if you ask them what they think you should have, they'll share with you their latest invention...usually the most delicious cocktail you've ever had. Scratch that...the most delicious drink you've ever had...that happens to have copious amounts of cleverly disguised alcohol.

Food can be damn good too. Try the Mango Burgers. After a few drinks, dive into the Wasabi Fries. The founding chef makes incredible food if you're lucky enough to try one of his dishes. Even friends who are extremely picky about sushi regularly order and enjoy the sushi there.

Does it have a $1 million lighting system? No. But tucked away in this hidden alley is without a doubt my number one spot in LA to enjoy friends with a staff that truly cares about you having a the best possible drinks you've never had.

My friend says there is some good German joints in the area. Anything ring a bell? I avoid downtown like the plague so I don't know the area well. McCormick and Schmicks used to have a good happy hour.

I did a search of downtown bars (not like I'm going or anything, but I thought I would help out) - what about Bar 107:

It's downtown and is classified as a dive bar, plus they have a photo booth which could be lots of fun!

You people are old. Go there - land and find a bar.

Here - now I feel bad for you all:

Naw . . .
Bar 107 review

The local hangout of choice for the converted loft community, Bar 107 is painted red and gold all the way up to its 20-foot ceilings. The architectural bones may be fancy but the vibe is that of a mellow dive. Bar 107 prides itself on its no-dance-music policy, instead preferring to soundtrack its evenings with hipster-friendly rock and country.

sorry - didn't see the country music

What about Hank's Bar - it's another dive bar, unless everyone prefers sports bars or lounges?

Love German food and booze and it's 2 miles from the Nokia and it says it's good for groups though the group is looking like me and Zabird so far.
