Mr. Brian wrote:But that was 8 years ago! We are old "synical" pickled onions who want to return to the days of yesteryear.

Of course, I wasn't a fan during their yesteryear days, so I was happy with what I got, even if it was a 30-second burst on one track (I wasn't that happy, thought it was a bit of cheek actually). I was still checking the Bunnymen out, even eight years ago, so was willing to nod in agreement with that "they can't go back to the past" bollocks.

Perhaps I should have said "I" instead of "we".

I'm not asking much. A load of filler is O.K. as long as there are a few masterpieces such as Supermellowman, Of A Life or In The Margins sprinkled in. Not much evidence of that yet. Is the Fountain album C.D. or download only? I need to see if it has any redeeming features.

It will be on CD and download.

I agree with that. I don't expect something that sounds like anything of the first four albums or "dark", whatever that means, but an album usually has 11 tracks. You can put in your pop fillers, ballads and so forth, but that still gives enough room to put in a couple of masterpieces and at least try to be really creative and experimental on one other track. They could even take a leaf out of the song Porcupine, but take a standard three minute filler pop song that just goes mental at the end and completely deviates from the original tune. Turns into a jamming session. That'd be cool.

I think Mac's beloved Coldplay even did that on their current album amongst the usual pap that they call muzic. Not that they are constrained by having to toe the line for a major label, millions of copies to sell or anything like that.

No idea about the choir.

I was just making a joke regarding Flowers being 8 years ago and therefore "yesteryear" itself. I remember being pretty excited about that album and tour myself.

Aah, I was getting caught up in the "it don't sound like the first four albums" debate.

I found the Flowers tour the best one that I have been to. I saw them in a smallish venue. Will did his Sgt Fuzz stuff for the opening set, so there was the crossover between the old and the new. And while the set had the usual suspects in the setlist with tracks off Flowers pretty much neglected, there was a storming rendition of Over The Wall as well as Heads Will Roll that made it a good gig.

Incidentally, I found that Coldplay song, "Yes". Shite song but the instrumental thing that follows isn't as bad.

Is it Ian's shyness? Seriously, there are people torn between wanting to preform and being incredibly uncomfortable in fron of a crowd at the same time.

well you'd think after doing it for 30 years he'd have just about got over that by now. plus he seems happy enough doing the solo stuff, just when the fuzzmeister is stood at the edge of the stage he gets his, lets ignore the crowd and pretend i'm not here either persona, whilst berating the lights bloke for doing his job properly, i.e., shining lights in his general direction (first page of the manual indeed. and depsite what i said some groovy instrumental wig-outs would be more than welcome but i think its less and less likely to happen.

The Flowers tour was a classic, and they did play the best track off Flowers (Supermellowman) along with the best version of I'll fly tonight I have ever heard. And that guy from Cast was great on bass. Never mind the 80's, I am nostalgic for that tour. I thought it was a new begining, but of course, it couldn't last.

Never a truer word - he hates Will getting the spotlight.
