The Cure - The Top

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Don't fall for that line Frank. All he's gonna do is parade suitors in front of you in a petty attempt to make you jealous.

Uh so I've heard.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

You need to communicate better. I'm sure I wasn't the only one that thought 'friends' was code for 'friends (with benefits)'

I've got a real soft shell, I mean spot, for The Top. The first Cure album I really liked was Faith, I adored (and still do) Pornography and I liked The Top alot when it first came out...it was quite commercial in places but also quite quirky and weird as well.

In many ways its a dry run for the (much better) Head On The Door. Robert Smith needs a tight group round him and the return of a band set up for HOTD was a logical step after the almost solo The Top.

The Top sounds quite dated now, but I still listen to it and really enjoy it (which is more than can be said for anything after Wish).
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Don't think Raws and Jaws, I mean King Clang and Mano didn't notice that. They had four hours in the 104 degree sun today. Hasn't it been a year yet?

The Top isn't as horrible as I made it out to be, I just remembered how I thought it was genius in high school and it didn't seem as impressive listening to it a few weeks ago. It's an interesting album and after The Head On the Door (my favorite album) came out I knew that's what The Cure should be.

I changed my mind. Finally was able to play my vinyl after a couple of decades.

Yes, Th eTop is indeed an amazing collection of songs. The bass lines alone were played in a way that had not been done prior or since. Well, maybe Hot Hot Hot. No, not really.

Robert Smith played Bass on "The Top" but it was Phil Thornally who played bass on the tour to support the album........
