Yep, Blood got played for a while, but First of the Gang was the one I seemed to always hear that summer. Not sure about those sales figures.......pretty sure I read somewhere Quarry nearly sold a million. But anyway, in the UK, where Radio 2 is beamed out, it sold more than any other.

Even an obscure 80's English band like The Blow Monkeys managed to benefit from this Radio 2 goodwill I keep harping on about (they ought to bottle the stuff). Old Vine gives his usual "......remember Dr Robert and his amazing cheekbones, well he's got a new song out and its lovely, hope you enjoy it." The Monkeys promptly sell out bigger venues than they ever did in the 80's.

All the DJs on Radio 2 are mid to late 40's, they want to see the bands of their youth back in the limelight (or in old Moz's case finally give him his due). We all do this, we are chasing our youth....I go to gigs these days and I see youth-chasers at every one. Admittedly youth-chasers are paricularly prevalent in my home town, but I have read it is a national epidemic. I'm sure the Bunnies could snare a few of them on their new campaign.

Didn't Peasey play piano on "What if We Are?", I'm sure he could be passed off as a band member. That cherubic face of his on "Loose Women" would melt a thousand housewives' hearts.

Just had a look up to see First of the Gang's effect on the album. You Are The Quarry came in at no 2 in the UK album charts the week after it was released in May 2004. First of the Gang and its coverage on Radio 2 was likely to be responsible for You Are The Quarry's re-entry in the charts (at no 18) in July 2004.
