Siberia has to be one of the meanest songs he's ever written. Imagine knowing that he's written that one for you. Yikes.

I don't care for What If We Are till about the 4:00 minute mark. Mac sounds very honest at that point. As if he's letting us in on the fact that even he has doubts.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

This is an odd thread to post this in, as we are discussing how much we like the song "Of A Life" on the most recent album.

If you ever liked U2 better than The Bunnymen, they you are hardly in a position to judge anything.

Maybe some of you people who constantly moan about the people on this site should stop coming here. Or maybe we can all just say what we like.

I remember when I first heard the chorus of Of A Life and thought "there's a little bit of that 'ol Bunnymen magic". Definitely one of Will's best guitar riffs of the modern Bunnymen era and one of the highlights of the last 4 albums. I just wish the rest of the song was more interesting, either musically or production-wise or both.

My favorite songs off the album -
Siberia
Of A Life
In The Margins
Sideways Eight
Make Us Blind

Still think it's the best album the Bunnymen have put out since getting back together, definitely not a masterpiece, though. Not sure if that's possible at this point, but still looking forward to the new album.

Yeah the chorus is brash, it has swagger. I think Evergreen and Siberia are fine albums. Definitely not embarrassments. I just think they were both close to being something really special and they just missed something. Maybe Pete?

Why? This is the only forum that I visit that is music or general chit-chat orientated, irrespective of it being a Bunnymen site. Many of the bands that I like don't have forums. The few that have and I joined in the past, it was that kind of defensive bollocks that if you dared to criticise, it meant you hated a band, shouldn't bother and should fuck off. So I left, never to return.

VT is one of the few forums where you can praise or moan about a band. It doesn't mean that you dislike the band. It makes it a priceless forum on the interweb. People don't get all defensive.

Anyway, back to the discussion.

Yes, Siberia is a cool abum. Mac sings In the Margins perfectly. Will's spikey guitar on Sideways Eight. Oh god, I wet myself everytime I hear that song. What you dislike Everything Kills You? How dare you! How dare any of you criticise Siberia! It is the greatest Bunnymen album since the last greatest Bunnymen album. We love Mac, we love Will (screams madly like a girl).

more likely, it was someone signing on as a 'new' user, and had to get in the required posts before starting a new thread.

I never got past listening to them streaming Siberia on the official website. The only song that half way interested me sounded like an Electrafixion outtake. There was nothing that made me think "christ this is horrible", but it just didn't excite me enough to want to go out and buy it.
