I asked someone the other day what an emo kid is and their reply was that they wear black nail varnish and have black dyed hair. I thought that was a goth (in my day anyway). Apparantely, they don't listen to gothic type music, so I'm lost on what an emo kid is. Sounds like some kind of disablement, mental illness or attention deficit disorder type label.

YOu ever listen to Fugazi? Imagine Fugazi with Ian McKaye whining instead of yelling.

New member? I'll have it known that I have been posting on here since whenever it was invented. I also have the honour of staging the VT forum's first official suicide.

Fat Cherry's explanation sounds about right. What I want to know is what happened to goths. Even if they dressed a bit like morticia out of the Adam's Family, at least they had interesting record collections (complete, no doubt, with copies of Echo & The Bunnymen's Ocean Rain among others).

Goths are still around and less wrinkly than their peers because of their avoidance of sun exposure.

I knew being Goth would pay off in the long run.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Yes. They sound nothing like Sonic Youth. They know what the phrase "play in key" means.

So, Emo girls usually have long hair with crappy dyed streaks in them? Maybe a bit of black mascara. Lip piercing.

Emo guys have shorter haircuts, but equally as wacky. Like this?

That chick with the guitar is cute.

I knew it! Mac invented the emo haircut. Too bad he didn't trademark it. He'd be rich today.

That top photo looks like a young 'un who works in my office. She kinda spoiled the effect today, however, with large, pink '80s glasses.

Saw the Cure last summer. Nothing sadder than an amphitheater full of middle-aged goths.
