Mac On Radio 2

Postby Dr Cheese » Thu Aug 06, 2009 6:59 am

Heard a snippet of Mac talking about The Fountain this morning on the entertainment news on R2. Apparently The Idleness Of Gods (or whatever it's called) is the greatest ballad he's ever written and the most gorgeous thing he's ever heard. Also he doesn't see how "the fans" won't say it's what they've been waiting for as it's definitely what he's been waiting for!
If his speaking voice gets any deeper or raspy he'll end up talking out of his arse ... hang on a minute ...

Hmmm. what fans would those be?
The synics?
The great unwashed, old and soontobebeatenup?
Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

The Idleness of Gods is the greatest ballad he's ever written. That can't be hard given that his thang writing ballads for Bunnymen albums is a very much post-1997 affair.

What does he mean "the fans" won't say it's what they've been waiting for as it's definitely what he's been waiting for? What, the album? the greatest ballad ever written? Don't know about everyone else, but I haven't been waiting for more happy pop tunes aimed at emo kids. I'd even forego those for an album of greatest ever written ballads if necessary.

Emo kids don't like happy pop tunes.

He's invoked the double negative, hence a positive.

I thought it was The Idolness of Gods.

I get the feeling that this time he's not as keen with the rhetoric. It sounds forced.

Yeah you are right. I'm trying to be "in" with the kids (although there are no kids on this forum ). I asked someone the other day what an emo kid is and their reply was that they wear black nail varnish and have black dyed hair. I thought that was a goth (in my day anyway). Apparantely, they don't listen to gothic type music, so I'm lost on what an emo kid is. Sounds like some kind of disablement, mental illness or attention deficit disorder type label.

Yeah, I think he was trying to say he won't believe it if the fans don't like it!

A positive what?
He can't understand why fans refuse to say something...

What was that? My hearing isn't what it used to be.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I must be getting old, I regularly get around the 30 point mark on popmaster. I love Radio 2.
