Postby King Of Kings » Sat Aug 01, 2009 4:42 am

Me thinks that not is all well in the Bunny Camp

The suprise release of Fountain after two years

Yet MORE once in a life time Ocean Rain Gigs

Only 4 Uk dates to support the release of Fountain

Mac guest vocals on a cover on Zimbo (All my Colours)

Will Guesting with the Wild Swans

Would'nt Suprise me if Will becomes a Swan

See what happens KOK when you think............

You've been warned it's not good for your wee brain when you try and do it..... And I bet it hurts too......

Leave the thinking to the adults, be a good boy and run off and catalogue yer vast collection of Bunnymen press clippings.........

The suprise release of Fountain after two years
It was not a surprise. Was it not supposed to be released on Korova/Warners until things went wrong? Without a label, the option was to find another one or self release. They obviously took the decision to self release originally planned and announced last year and then suddenly abandoned for the Ocean Rain not once-in-your-lifetime gigs.

Yet MORE once in a life time Ocean Rain Gigs
True, but I suppose it packs out the concert halls and may ensure a healthy number of attendees at other gigs (see below)

Only 4 Uk dates to support the release of Fountain
Makes sense. What's the point in doing a nationwide tour and playing in dives like the Kings Lynn Civic Hall with max 500 capacity. The Roundhouse and Wolverhampton Civic Hall have 3,000 capacity I believe. £23.50 a pop. Not bad return. Manchester Ritz smaller. Maybe extra dates?

Mac guest vocals on a cover on Zimbo (All my Colours)

And why not? Nouvelle Vague are very much a French cover versions band. They have done a cover of Zimbo and invited other artists to sing on their album covers (Terry Hall and Martin Gore who appear to be very busy with their own bands).

Will Guesting with the Wild Swans
And why not? He played on Primal Scream's 2006 album. Didn't leave then.

Would'nt Suprise me if Will becomes a Swan
Personally, I'd prefer it if it persuaded Les to return the Bunnymen. He is much needed.

The Bunnymen disbanding wouldn't surprise me. Now I have no knowledge of the inner workings of the band but based on Mac's statements it sounds like he gets two votes to Will's one, writes the songs then lets Will sprinkle some guitar dust on them and seems to dictate the direction the band will be taking. I could be wrong but during the heyday I thought the workload was more evenly distributed and the songwriting process more collaborative. My opinion is when any one member asserts too much influence the results are pretty uneven. Mac = WAYGTDWYL and Will = Flowers. Neither bad albums but both seem to be lacking what I think the other member brings to the band. But if the Bunnymen has become a vehicle for Mac I could see Will calling it a day. I think it would be cool to see Will write the music and Mac focus on the lyrics for an album and see what comes out of it.

Anyhow nothing I've said above is new or original but I keep hoping the next Bunnymen album is the next great Bunnymen album.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Any truth to the rumor Will and Les played with The Swans at a place called Static?

If Flowers was Will's effort, then we still won't be in for much either if he concentrated on the song writing and Mac the lyrics. They need input from someone else...

I reckon for the next Bunnymen album we should set up a panel on here. Mac and Will can demo 20 or more songs to us and we'll vote on, after our expert analysis, which ones should be on the album, basing our assessments on how Bunnymenish the songs sound. Ballads would be out, other than for the final track on the album, while further Love In Veins-type songs would be rejected as not sounding fresh. If they failed to provide enough songs suitable for the album, then we'd send them away to write some more until they got it right.

That way it would ensure there was some consistency in their songwriting and, of course, should the album flop, Mac and Will can officially blame us saying "It was them bastards who claimed it was the greatest album ever made since Ocean Rain. Greatest album eh? More like the greatest soddin bargin basket cut-price freebie. Wankers."

That's pretty much my perceptions of how things work with the Bunnymen now. In other words, it's not really the same band (obviously). From my viewpoint it seems like Will is way too passive with the band now, I could be wrong but that's what it seems like. After WAYGTDWYL he was going to quit and that's when Ian threw him a bone with Flowers (which was strangely a big mistake).

What's even stranger is I also keep hoping for the next Bunnymen to be great as well, even though it's clearly Ian's band at this point and the chances of that happening are pretty small at this point. Anyone notice on the first 4 albums that Will was credited first with the song credits? Just a coincidence?

As for the Wild Swans, I think it's more likely that Will tries to convince Les to re-join the Bunnymen but I hardly see any way of that happening given the fact that Les quit the band because of Ian.

yeah well i think its pretty well established that we take fucking with our minds very seriously, just take a look around. although on a scale of 1-10 of mindfucks its on the peter andre scale of things

King Of Kings wrote:I post some things too cause a reaction to my amusment,

yeah well dont - though in a way i dont know what i dont want you to do. though its quite possible to entertain yourself whilst entertaining the rest of us too (and as i know to my detriment, it doesn't always work). though writing sentences that dont really make sense upsets jack more than the rest of us.

in terms of conspiracies i think its far more likely that les and will continue to do the pub quiz on a monday and that paul simpson will go quietly back to what he's been doing for the last twenty years. however the thought of a pattinson-sergeant based supergoup kind of in the fleetwood mac model, i.e., two old british dudes recruit a couple of hippies, one with breasts, and bring out a global mega-album much more interesting to contemplate, though the result will also be ian mcculloch's echo and the bunnymen ft will sergeant (which is pretty much what we got).

Perhaps he will join Noel Burke and Les instead, and then let Mac in later, if he can prove he's good enough.

that'd be an audition to be listening in on. Will and les could do that thing where you pretend you only just recall having met someone before in an 'of yeah, i think i remember, but you know, the drugs and stuff, clouds your minsd a bit - ocean rain, was that you? yeah, well lets give it a shot, kind of way. still think they need to find some american chick with a smokey voice though. did i say smokey? perhaps that would be a mistake. what about that bint in agent ribbons? but anyway, isn't it Yes that have at least two separate line-ups touring at the same time (or is that one of those rocknroll myths). they could do that. and we'd still say they're crap beause the drummer's not there.

I can deffo provide the hippies for that.

Will & Les are most probably having a blast & letting off steam with their mates Simmo & Mooneye.
