That must have been one hell of a period, my missus just gets a bit grumpy!

That doesn't sound like much fun.

Period... oo-er missus.

I meant as in period or moment in time (obviously).

Now Curvature of the Earth - there is a masterpiece.

I don't know about that, I actually like his other solo stuff more. Curvature is a really, really good album but I wasn't a fan of the production on it. Have you heard Performance? That's a pretty awesome album, IMO. I like the cohesion and sounds on it more than Curvature.

Looking back on Siberia, I agree with black francis in that most of the songs are half masterpieces, although I'm not sure I'd even go that far. I still think it's the Bunnymen's best album since getting back together but it's definitely not a masterpiece. The production on it wasn't really hi-fi or lo-fi, it was just ho-hum. From what I've heard so far from the Fountain, the production is definitely way better. I keep thinking of Of A Life and what an awesome chorus it has but the rest of the song is pretty boring. I think the title track is pretty awesome throughout, though.

The chorus on "Of a Life" is great. The ending of "In the Margins" is pretty rad too. Mac did it really well live.

The interlude on "Scissors in the Sand" give it a real dated sound.

For all the excitement over Hugh Jones producing Siberia I thought the production while night and day better than Flowers was nothing special.

GET NICK LOWE TO PRODUCE!!

As far as the production on Curvature I cut it a lot of slack as he put it out on his own while putting together complete finished songs. I would love to see what he could do with a real producer.

Performance? Ok, I am just finding out now.
This link is gorgeous:

I see why you expect more from the production of Curvature.
Will and fans of Will are missing out with him sticking with the Bunnymen.

Thanks for the heads up on Performance.

Heard Baseball Bill on the radio this morning. The song after, emo song, just sounded so childish. EATB had this above it all quality.

I am not sure voice problems limit his creative potential or if he just can't be bothered, like Oasis-they don't have voice problems, they just lost the spark very quickly. At least the Bunnymen spent 20 years building their reputation (and probably another 20 destroying it) but Oasis got started on the destruction bit much quicker.

I think Mac should sound EXACTLY like he did when he was 25. I don't want to hear anything about age, honesty or any of that crap.

Exactly like he did at 25. No more excuses.

disagree, liams voice is fucked compared to what it was ten years ago. always a bit one dimensional but he's got the mac craok down to a tee - listen to any live recording recently. but spark-wise, agree totally.

Oasis lost their spark after Morning Glory, shame really, those first two albums are tremendous.

As much as I love the first two albums I didn't think they had staying power at the time.
