That is one hell of a collection in your basement. Any first editions in there worth a few bucks?

most of my collection is from the 90s. there may be a few issues in there that are worth $20 or $30 but nothing worth a lot like the really old books...

someday i'll go through it :)

I came home from work one day to see my mom having a yard sale with all my comics out. Items lost: (they may have no value but they were my personal favorites)

Punisher #1-70 something
X-Factor #1-50 something
Robotech: All Three Sagas
Early issues of Iron Man
VERY early issues of X-Men (my friend still has his X-Men #1)
GI Joe 1-50 something including the formerly VERY valuable Snake Eyes origin story
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (I hated this one but if I recall it was pretty valuable for a while)

I have one shoe box left of comics but nothing worth anything

McFarlane Spiderman #1 all three covers (whoopie)
AVP The first mini-series
A beaten up Punisher #1
Early X-Factor (mainly the Archangel origin stuff)
Some Iron Man
Lobo 1-4

And some other crap I don't have a particular attachment to.

I always think though that comic collecting is an American thang. I have never met anyone or known anyone in the UK with a vast collection of comics.

My dad read Eagle. I think when I was about seven, I owned war comics, maybe a few copies of Beano but that was as good as it got. Had a brief period of buying Viz, but that is adult humour comic not sci-fi or super heroes type thing. I think Viz's nearest superhero was Buster Gonad, the boy with unfeasibly large testicles.

That's an unfortunate super power.

Playing Magic gave me a glimpse into part of a nerd subculture. I found them to be surprisingly abrasive and hostile. I wondered if that was a cause or an effect of having no friends. I guess I was expecting them to be happier that I was hanging out with them.
