New Song Snippets on Myspace

Those snippets do nothing to help the album. How embarrassing. Don't understand why they couldn't put the whole songs up. It's 730am, I think I'm just gonna start drinking to forget what I just heard and waited all this time for.

I am surprised that the warm reception of the OR gigs did have Will & Ian saying, "You know, perhaps we need to be a little more adventuous and creative like we used to be."

just listened for the first time. i have to say, i wasn't all that impressed. the 'woo-woo's' or whatever on Proxy i think take away from the song, and these snippets do sound very Slideling-esque and had me thinking "where's Will?"

Think I need it too and some of do you know who i am is the only time i really hear that great guitar... I'm hoping these songs will be better in full length, because the short snippets really didn't do much for me at first listen. gonna go listen again.

i'm still optimistic for the album though, and am looking forward to it.

It's a shame really the lack of being adventuous and creative. But that has been the biggest gripe that we have had for a long while. I think that there has been some effort to move on with one of the major criticisms of the past in terms of the instruments/sound being the same, but this album, judging by the tracks heard so far, was aimed purely at commercial release via Warners.

It sounds more commercial than Siberia or even Flowers for that matter: pop songs with a small sprinkling of something Bunnymenish of the past (maybe get a guitar riff if you are lucky). Problem with that, I can go and find that anywhere if I really want to. Like starting with buying Coldplay's back catalogue.

I will buy this album, but [sigh] I think my days as a Bunnymen fan are coming to an end. It's a been a rollercoaster of a ride, mostly out of frustration, but I think that is about as much as I can take now. There are a lot more interesting bands and artists I can listen to or even put on the Bunnymen's back catalogue if mood takes me. Goodbyeeee! Jump off cliff. Splat.

This has finally ground into the dirt any remaining enthusiasm I might have harboured for the Bunnymen of today. I reckon we should all just pretend it ended in 1984!

And yes the snippets don't really do much. Most bands (other than those guaranteed to sell very well) put up whole tracks.

I quite like them, esp Drivetime, beautiful melody, as far as I can tell from that snippet. Don't like the 60's pop piano and do-oh on Proxy, tho, but am eagerly awaiting the album.
