The Pictures On My Wall

I'm inflicted with the illness, something the doctors would refer to as being a habitual "collector". Things I've collected in the past have serial numbers that can tell me almost exactly when something was manufactured. The Bunnymen are one of my latest interests. I picked up a copy of The Pictures on My Wall single released on Ian's birthday, May 5th, 1979. This release has the cryptic "The Revenge of Voodoo Billy" etched on the B-side runout. Torquoise Days says 4000 copies were released initially, followed by another 3000 a few weeks later.

VT's discography says " 4,000 only, "The Revenge Of Voodoo Billy" scratched in B-side run-off, label either blue lettering on yellow or green on light gray"

The technical geeks question is this: is there a way to distinguish the first 4000 copies from the second run a few weeks later, even if they both have "The Revenge Of Voodoo Billy" scratched on it? Do label colors distinguish the two? What about the serial numbers also etched on the records?

Which of you can claim to have bought this single when it originally came out and what did you think of their sound at the time?

EXCELLENT!! Although reading the entire thread made my head hurt. To be absolutely certain that I have the very first issue, I'll have to find a copy of the label with the lighter blue / turquoise colored stripes.

I see there are others out there with the collecting bug!
