General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

And i belive mac's own version of the funeral (in adam's book I belive) says there was quite alot of wailing anf gnashing of teeth so she's talking bollocks there as well. And jack - its a coincidence.

Essentially. She starts out with some background and then drops thls: "Pete had always shared with us his disgruntled tales of life in the Bunnymen but after their final gigs for the year of 1985 his dissatisfaction had reached a new peak." and then she continues and you're like "wait for it, wait for it..." and BAM! she doesn't disappoint with the passive agressive guilt trip: "So it saddens me that such an essential element during the Bunnymen’s wonder years has warranted so little ‘official’ love and honour – his death is mentioned only in passing on the Bunnymen’s wiki and, on the band’s own website, it’s as if Pete barely existed."

Meanwhile, she's forgotten the fact that the pals who went with him to American (the ones she speaks so highly of) used and abused him and drained him dry and abandoned him when the money ran out. Fuckers.

I remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard Pete had died. Every year I think of him and I know I'm not alone.

I get it now. Ok, I see how that is lame.

Now I am pissed at her - for ruining a really beuatiful memorial.
I was struck (but ignored) the excessive "We were crying" and "he had _our_ map."

Separating the Let's slag Mac and We Remember Pete would have shown class.

In Never Stop, it states Pete always felt on the outside not being from Liverpool. This was compounded when after (I think it was) Porcupine a few members had kids and were going family and he was still ready to party.

It makes sense. He was in hos mid 20s, not a time a lot of people want to settle down.

I agree with you 100%. If I hear that fucking map story one more time I'm gonna scream.
I read Copey's books (Head On and Reposessed, can't be bothered with all that archaeology crap) a few weeks ago and its as if he can't resist any chance to take a dig at Mac, Will and Wylie in particular. I still like much of his music but isn't it about time to let bygones be bygones as it does no-one any favours (including Pete's memory) when even a piece celebrating his memory is used as a platform to slag off the other Bunnymen.
I remember very well where I was when I heard of Pete's death and today am glad I had been able to see them in Liverpool in '88 when he was in the band.

I can't take credit for recognizing the lameness of the blog- BF FC and ITM pointed this out.

I had forgotten the Cope vs Mac thing and had no idea his wife(?) was so over the top about it.

look drugs and and a party life style can fuck up ones mind

but when a person in a blog glorfies this lifstyle then they are clearly an ARSE ..

who gives a fuck about what this woman thinks let her go hug tress for a while longer

I know nothing much about the dynamics of the band at the time and their true relationships and really do not want to-- it is the music I like -- perhaps the fact that Will and Mac say little shows they wish to respect the memory of Pete and not taint it ....

I think she meant the entry on wikipedia.org. Why does the bunnymen website take so long to load?

I thought it was my computer at first. That site takes a ridiculously long time to load.

Pete-greatest drummer in the 80's.Every year we all post about how great his contribution was and how sad his death was.Never replaced.Flip back to late 1985 and he's completely bongoed off his head on coke, acid whatever. He comes back to band after racking up debts on the Bunnymen's behalf.Do you a) say welcome back old cobber go blow another £20K on Hawkwind bootlegs or b)great to have you back,we'll pay you £x a month?

The Cope's talk some shit.Pete is revered by all Bunnymen fans and respected by Mac and Will.

Is he Dave? Im not so sure...
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

I like the competition that takes place this time of year. It's almost time to present the "I was closest to Pete and I mourn his loss much deeper than any of you" award.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I think everyone who saw him drum feels his loss. You can see that in the blog, which ain't that far away from Reposessed's narrative. The band has never been the same.

Dorian's alright. She feels the pain, she's got her own views on it fair enough, I don't think she's right about Mac or Will, but there you go, I'm not in a wig in a fucking court room; these things can sometimes draw lines in the sand.

I'd rather look at her picture than listen to her ramblings.
