Nice.

Every year, something reminds me of June 14th and I always feel blue about how much music lost.

That was a nice blog until the bitterness toward Mac and Will reared its head at the end (however justified it may be). Mac has said some very kind things about Pete including he was the greatest drummer ever and I thought it was touching when he said something to the effect that Pete didn't think he was one of them but that he always was one of the Bunnymen. He also mentioned how Les and Will worshipped Pete.

But it was nice to read another perspective. Thanks for that link fc

And the OR gigs do an entire wall photo segment of Pete.

Both Les and Pete were hired back as hired hands at one time or another leaving one to assume Ian does not see them as major contributors of the song writing process.

Cope was friends with Pete. I can understand his bitterness. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. It is a good blog.

If she had posted two separate blogs, one about the loss of Pete and the other about the mistreatment of his legacy I would be 100% fine with it and would probably agree with it fully. I just thought a beautiful post about Pete went a bit awry when it turned into a rant about Mac and Will. That's all.

It's self-serving and self-masturbatory.

The sheer hatred that exists between the two camps bubbles underneath the narrative from the start.

However deserved (or not), she didn't need to take a shot at Will and Ian, but she couldn't help herself.

We all miss Pete.

i'm with you margins. seems typical of cope's self importance, not to mention all that 'outsider within' crap. Made me think though - pete cant have hated it that much if he returned to the band - especially since he was paid up employee rather than full time member. Assuming he didn't have any money was probably a wise financial decision. I think the copes enjoy their own mythology a bit too much. Unfortunately th internet allows them to share it with us. Anyway, if he was living down south and trucking up on his bike for whatever, must still have been a good gig.

to me he's some bloke I've never met but was on some crackin records and probably the best drummer of his generation (though funnily enough hi doesn't make the best drummer ever poll on the NME website, as opposed to say, the bloke in babyshambles). The band would be better if he were still behind the kit but there you go. So no I dont get my hanky out every june. all a bit of a pose that.

It simply showed how much this person was affected by the loss of Pete. Time was spent together and Pete even plays a role in the video I posted.

Making Pete and Les hired hands was just down right shitty. Especially when the first four albums share song writing credits.

You all say you are upset but have said the exact same thing about Ian giving the other members the shaft at one time or another, but now are offended when it is written by another. I find everyone getting self-rightous about how terrible it was to do that more sickening than than the actual blog.

No? You never said Pete and Les should have stayed song writing partners? Ok, then, not all of you.

On the other hand, Pete was obviously a lot deal with. It says he wanted out by 1985 and may have borken a loyalty to the band.

Holy crap I just realized Pete died on my son's birthday.

Flag Day, too. That all-important, never-to-be-missed holiday.

this is the bit i (and BF and margins i believe) disagree with. it starts off like this then goes into this criticism of the band and then the website for not splattering their grief all over the internet. as for the wylie quote, has anyone ever substantiated this? And i belive mac's own version of the funeral (in adam's book I belive) says there was quite alot of wailing anf gnashing of teeth so she's talking bollocks there as well. And jack - its a coincidence.
