If you've played an instrument long enough, and then go on "hiatus", it really never leaves you. If you've got the "feel" down, you'll always have it. I think it's just getting your body used to performing the more technical aspects of it, and remembering the parts again.
Les has always struck me as a natural musician, which is why he's so fricken awesome w/o being a virtuoso. His bass parts are very original, and are way more tricky to play within the context of the song than most would think.
Glad to hear he might be playing out again.
