New Star Trek

Tired of discussing the Bunnymen and all the bands that have been influenced by them? This is the place for you.

I also liked Bakula as Archer.

Can't comment on UPN. I watched most of the series on HDNet. The show was visually beautiful.

Having a Star Trek theme song be a pop song was annoying as hell to me. It just broke with a good tradition of having an epic sounding instrumental.

Bakula may have been good but I really think they should have gone with an unknown rather than cast the lead with another well known sci-fi lead actor.

UPN was on it's way down by the time Enterprise was airing. As I recall we didn't even have an affiliate in my area for part of the series and the network itself just didn't have much else to offer anyway. That just didn't lead to getting new viewers.

I may give it another chance if I find it on reruns.

I read at the time that Brannon Braga in particular had lost interest in the show (Enterprise) (I'm guessing because he had another show in development), so he just let it all go to hell. I thought at one point the show had promise, but then it got pointless.

One of the mistakes the developers made was making everything on the Enterprise slick and shiny and working. It was supposed to be before space travel was perfected. They touched upon this idea a few times in the first season when they were afraid to use the transporter and then all of a sudden they're jumping in the transporter without any qualms.

Did anyone ever make it to Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton when it was around? There was a great timeline display and prop exhibit from the tv shows and movies before you got to the ride.

Anyone seen this yet? I'm dragging the wife along to see it at the weekend - she's less than thrilled!

I haven't but have plans to see it this weekend. The trailers look great and everyone I know who has seen it said it was fantastic. I had really lost faith in the Star Trek franchise myself. Who would have thought after 10 movies they would make one that has appeal to traditionally non-Star Trek fans and reboot the whole thing? I can't help but think that the re-visioning of the Battlestar Galactica series had something to do with this being made.

My brother has seen it twice and is raving about it.

It looks like a Star Trek made by Jerry Bruckheimer starring Jackie Chan with all those x-treme scenes they've shown in the previews.

I'm thinking Star Wars prequels.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Now the board is bringing the sci-fi geek out of me.

RE: Enterprise, was probably my fave of all the series next to TOS. Theme song, yes horrible. Stories, hit and miss but the 3rd season (b/c someone else took over the show by then) was awesome and would've continued to improve if it would've kept going. There was lots of nitpicking about the tech being too updated for it being a prequel, ok possibly, but without a doubt it had the best production values (sets, props, etc) of any Star Trek series period. Even rivaled most of the movies.

I cannot wait to see the new movie! It doesn't open here until May 29th, but I cheat a read a synopsis of the whole plot. Really looking forward to it.

Surprisingly, I'm Wrath of Kahn, too.

Has anyone seen the new movie yet? I saw it Thursday and it's well worth the effort.

I saw it yesterday. It was very, very good. I have a lot to say about it, but will let everyone see it for themselves.
