The Obligatory Contented of Hove Thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

A Marseillaise writes about Ed Kuepper (born in Bremen, BTW): "I asked that question to Ed in the podcast...he joined just to modestly play guitar on Nick's songs for the Summer tour...no more !"

Bremer are a far superior class of German to the Bavarians.

apparently Cave was asked to write the sequel to Gladiator and apparently rejected for being too over the top, especially in the way he dealt with Masximus being dead.....

http://www.nme.com/news/nick-cave/44476

choice bit:

In Cave's script, Maximus' character is reincarnated after a meeting with Roman gods in the afterlife. The script then has him reunite with his son, before being given the power to live forever, adapting to a number of new roles that see him fight - and survive - in World War II and the Vietnam war. In the final scene, set in the present day, the character is seen working in the Pentagon.

Such deep and prosaic insight can only be expected of one so erudite and evolved as Russel Crowe.

"This American woman asked me for a decaffeinated coffee. In New Zealand in 1986 if you asked for a coffee it was a teaspoon of Nescafe. I come over here and suddenly I'm faced with long black, short black, cappuccino, coffee latte. And decaffeinated. So I take her a cup of hot water. And she says 'Russell, this is just boiling water,' and I say 'Lady, when we decaffeinate something in Australia we don't fuck around.'"

There is a scene in a Steve Martin movie LA Story where folks are sitting around at a restaurant asking for elaborate coffee drinks. This was before the idea caught on around the entire country. It was a good laugh at the time.

"I'll have a half double decaffeinated half-caf, with a twist of lemon. "
