The message on the forum seemed to be that the refund would take place within the hour or was that just for
Custard? Don't mean to be petty but they'd probably not get such a bad rap if they didn't consistently promise things that they don't / can't deliver on.

I think that was a I dare you ask for a refund Custard posturing with the "within an hour" comment cause they knew Custard didn't really want a refund and probably wouldn't push the issue.

I don't get it. I mean a simple "hey we fucked up and I understand some of you are upset but we promise we will make it right" would settle a few ruffled feathers. It's not that hard to be decent to the people especially those still trying to give you money.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

True.
"Posturing" is the right word.
Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

posted this over there, but here it is for you, .... over here

concerning the fact that some cheapskate astranaut blagged a free copy of OR to take into space.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/news/200904 ... ymen.shtml

Some choice quotes, but heres a couple for you to go on:

proving you should never listen to your favourite bands opinions on themselves

Ian McCulloch also claims he wanted to release live recordings of Ocean Rain because he wasn’t happy with the vocals on the actual record.

and, credit crunch, what credit crunch or what was KOKs thread about the horse??

The band are releasing versions of 1985’s album from gigs at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Liverpool Echo Arena and New York Radio City.

As I posted on the astronaut thread, does nybody else find the timing of this article/interview a bit suspect?
At the exactly the same time that the shit is going down about the "bad pressing", this fluff salespitch/pr piece comes through... hmmm....

mr sceptic writes:

“I was never really happy with the vocals, especially now if I listen back there’s something, for me, a little bit overdramatic and po-faced about them".

Mac used his full vocal range to full effect on that album, much like Porcupine. Those albums really showed what a talented vocalist he once was.

"because people are actually hearing it better than if they’re on record.”

Nah

"This Tim Kopra, hopefully he plays it first so that we become the first band to be played in outta space."

Hasn't music playing in outta space been done more recently by Blur as well as other albums going back to the 60s?

"The reason Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant have put out deluxe packages is because it allows fans to connect with their music with a physical entity"

As scouser would say, not just the "chicken in the basket"-type cashing in then.

You mean the guy couldn't pay the Super Saver price for a remastered Ocean Rain with bonus tracks?

I had the same thought -- a nice piece of p/r that will certainly lead to more sales. Maybe the advanced sales were disappointing, hence the delay.

If that is the case, I doubt one article on BBC6 is going to make a huge amount of difference to sales. They could start by advertising it on their My Space page complete with snippets.

What about Field & Stream? I think Ocean Rain would find a good niche there.

 Too funny. I wasn't tempted in the first place, I don't regret that decision. A few years ago I would have been one of the first in the queue.
