Fifteen Minutes Velvet Underground Tribute - anyone have it?

Postby blinkilite » Mon Apr 20, 2009 7:11 pm

Does anyone have "Fifteen Minutes: A Tribute to the Velvet Underground"?

It was the CD that had the Bunnymen's cover of Foggy Notion on it. I already have foggy notion as mp3, but i was thinking about getting the whole disc considering there are other bands on there that i like (James, Screaming Trees, Nirvana, etc). however when i went to iTunes, it was not there. I went to amazon and it was only there through other sellers (and expensive) and surprisingly, no one had it up on the torrent sites either...

so i was wondering, is worth me spending $20+ for one of the used amazon ones, or is it only worth buying for foggy notion which i already have? meaning don't waste my money?

or even better, would someone wanna upload it for me and share?

Goddamnit, I was looking around the internet for it and one of the sites I checked out did that "Congratulations you won....blah, blah, blah" real loud for the whole office to hear.

I think Frank may be your only hope here.

Do you know her well enough to call her Blink?

You know my mom is more respectful than that.

Hi Blinki!

I have the other two VU tribute albums -- Heaven & Hell - A Tribute To The Velvet Underground, Volumes 1 and 2.

I've never listened to Volume 2, just Volume 1 and the songs on that album are pretty good. Wikipedia lists the songs on the compilation you're asking about - Fifteen Minutes - and 6 of the songs are from Volume 1. Ride's version of European Son is just feedback upon feedback (simply great!) and the jewel of the collection is Nirvana's Here She Comes Now. That song is worth the price alone, although 20 dollars is pretty high.

McCrank recently posted a download from Nirvana that contained that version of the song, and that's free!

Nowadays - I think 20 is a bit much. Especially after I shelled out 20 for Yeah yeah Yeahs new one to find out it isn't as great as it seemed at first.

Ticks me off the way cds were supposed to come down in price a few years after they were initially released only to find that is the case at the big box stores as a sales gimmick.

Amazon is usually cheaper.

And yes Blackie, I can call her Blink.

Just because you've been a guest in my home and stole my family doesn't give you the right to call me blackie.
